Loner and Leader

Post by browwnrob »

Just wondering if loners can use a leader reroll without having to roll for loner

I dont know if its a typo, Im trying not to rules lawyer either, but im just wondering!
Loner (Extraordinary)
Loners, through inexperience, arrogance, animal ferocity or just plain
stupidity, do not work well with the rest of the team. As a result, a Loner
may use team re-rolls but has to roll a D6 first. On a roll of 4+, he may
use the re-roll as normal. On a roll of 1-3 the original result stands
without being re-rolled but the re-roll is lost (i.e. used).
Leader (Passing)
The player is a natural leader and commands the rest of
the team from the back-field as he prepares to throw the
ball. A team with one or more players with the Leader skill
may take a single Leader Re-roll counter and add it to
their team re-rolls at the start of the game and at half time after any
Master Chef rolls. The Leader re-roll is used exactly the same in every
way as a normal Team re-roll with all the same restrictions. In addition,
the Leader re-roll may only be used so long as at least one player with
the Leader skill is on the pitch - even if they are Prone or Stunned! Rerolls
from Leader may be carried over into Overtime if not used, but the
team does not receive a new Leader re-roll at the start of Overtime.
Someone might say that its a Leader reroll and not a team reroll, so maybe it needs fixed to say
Loner (Extraordinary)

stupidity, do not work well with the rest of the team. As a result, a Loner
may use team, leader and trophy re-rolls but has to roll a D6 first. On a roll of 4+, he may
use the team re-roll as normal. On a roll of 1-3 the original result stands
without being re-rolled but the team re-roll is lost (i.e. used).

To me, this implies the LONER's restrictions apply to the leader reroll as well.

Ok, but can a player with Loner use a Trophy reroll? Or is a Trophy reroll treated the same as a team re-roll?

It is a Team Re-Roll...even adds to TV.
So long as a team holds a trophy it has an additional team re-roll. The re-roll counts toward the team’s value as normal.

In LRB 5.0, he can use the re-roll, but must roll a 4+ to do so. They are identical to normal re-rolls.

In LRB 4.0, there was no Loner (right?) but there was the Skill Big Guy. Big Guys couldn't use team re-rolls, but were allowed to use trophy and team re-rolls. (I don't hae a copy of LRB 4.0 any more, this is all going off memory.)

Perhaps you are confusing the two?

what if... a loner, took the Leader skill.... should this cancel out?

oh the irony of a big guy with leader failing his loner roll to use his own leader re roll!! :D

sadly, even if it was the loner that had leader (merc with pass access? can't think of any other scenario that works) he would have to roll to use his own leader reroll.

The way I visualise it is that leaders with loner would really be the "inspiration" to have on the team - you are playing with a legend so raise your game.

A thrower with leader is a good bargain if you need both a player and a reroll for just 150K. Thats a bargain!

Merc Lineman (no skills) 80K + Reroll 100K thats 180K!

Very good for Norse teams where the thrower has block.

i guess the loner with leader might forget he's so special??

i can totally see why big guys have leader, cause they can have a HUGE impact on the game... i just think it's hilarious that, say a wild animal might just be a little more interested in the lineman that he just knocked out, to remember he's so cool, and re-roll his wild animal roll....
