"Stakes" skill necessary?

Post by Carnis »

I'm just wondering, why does Zara the Slayer need her own skill "Stakes?". Is this some weird buffy reference, wouldn't the world be better without it..?

Wouldn't she be good enough with blodge/stab ST4 alone? Furthermore, shouldn't the skill-category be full of skills players actually have access to (via doubles, or start with, or available through chaos cup final)? Finally, it seriously ruins high rating vampire teams, which are super weak enough as is. Stabbing thralls with AV6 isn't fun for either side..

I believe JJ has long been a Buffy fan.

On a related topic, are there any commonly accepted Zara substitute miniatures? The one in the SG catalogue doesn't actually seem to get sold.

I've used the Hasslefree "Kalee" model to represent Zara (and Griff strangely enough...)

I have a suggestion for JJ and the BBRC, which is:

- Modify the Stakes skill description so that it only works against players with Regeneration, not against all players on the undead teams.

So, for example, it would not work against Ghouls and Thralls, but it would work against Trolls, Nurgle positionals etc. It is the players with Regen who are "undead", not their aspiring little mortal servants (with low armour...).

Hope this helps.

That doesn't work either - trolls and nurgle aren't "undead" - I'd argue that Ghouls are more "undead" than a troll.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

It could work fluff wise tho, as in the end the reason of the stake in the heart should be that it cant be regenerated from, or am I wrong?

I'm totally OK with that skill disappearing from the game.
