Frenzy+Sidestep

Post by songfire »

Hi, newcomer here and somewhat still a rookie. I've been lurking these forums trying to enhance my skills as a Blood Bowl Coach. There's just one question that has been nagging me for some time.

I see a lot of people talking about rolling doubles and getting sidestep followed by frenzy. I'm wondering what the synergy between the two skills is. I must be missing something.

In example second comment in this thread recommends it:

Thanks in advance.

So you can crowd surf someone and then when you end up on the sidelines, you can't get crowd surf'd yourself.

Yeah, I kinda expected that to be the reasoning.

Thanks for the quick answer. :)

And if after crowd surfing someone, an opponent is dumb enough to blitz you... you can choose to be pushed in a square suitable to crowd surf him next turn

that depends on whether he follows up or even continues moving after the hit

and if he's learned grab, you can forget about sidestep and be surfed like any other player

I rolled doubles on my Norse Ulfwerener and took side step specifically to side step to a better spot to surf.

Depending on the situation, elsewhere, a good coach will still surf you!

Which in turn is great news, because it takes 5 players to surf a sidestepper (perhaps less if some of your own players are in TZ)

Usually this kind of revenge surfs give you great positional advantages.

My Bulls have the "Thin Skull" trait. After every block they make, roll a D6. On a 1+ they get ko-ed and stay in the ko-box for the rest of the game.

But it only takes one player if he has Grab.

Grab is rarely seen, so you wouldn't put yourself in this position if your opponent has a Grab player in a position to surf you. A very minor consideration.

For that very reason it should perhaps be seen more often.

Then people will just take less side step and go for fend or alternatives

why I'm liking the new skills

more juggernaut will be taken when more wrestle gets taken etc.

Hello,

i'm reading this thread, and i have a question regarding this discussion.

As described in Grab: Grab and Side Step will cancel each other
out and the standard pushback rules apply. Grab will not work if there
are no empty adjacent squares.

So, as i understand, Grab can't be used to push someone out of the pitch. Am i wrong ?

Of course, you can just blitz someone with sidestep as always (directly forward to sideline).

As far as I've understood Grab works like this:

It always cancels sidestep, period.

Your bolded part means that ift he target is completely surrounded by players and possibly sidelines, standard pushback happens. But possible sidestep can't be utilizised in this situation either.

So no, grab can't be used to hurl someone to the crowd if free squares exist adjacent to the opponent (crowd squares are not considered empty).

I hope i understood your question correctly.
