Blood Lust, movement and blocks

Post by Ferne »

Will start this up in a seperate thread:

Can you declare a move action, bite a thrall and then move? And what about blocks? It says "..if he had declared a block action, he may take a move action instead." But if there is thrall adjacent to the vampire, may he then choose to bite the thrall and then throw the block?

With your vampire, do this:
1. Declare action.
2. Roll for bloodlust. On 2+ you must skip step 3 and 6.
3. If you declared a Block Action (and failed Bloodlust) you may take a Move Action instead.
4. Proceed with your action type as normal, until you have completely finished with any blocking and/or moving. Completely finished.
5. If you had either declared or converted into a Move Action you may now use your Hypnotic Gaze.
6. You must now either bite a thrall or go to reserves (turnover).
7. Finally, you may now Hand-off, Pass or Score - if the action you declared/performed allows you to do so.

Cheers
Martin

PS, so to reply to your questions: No and no.

Plasmoid's right, except I'll toss in a twist I've not seen answered anywhere and have seen played both ways:

If you have a vampire in a tackle zone, fail blood lust, have a thrall within the vampire's MA range, but have to dodge to get there, what's the call?

I've played primarily that you have to make the dodge roll to go and bite your thrall. I have seen it the other way. I'm not sure the FAQ's cover it. The rule can be confusing.

I don't even understand the question.
If you take (or convert into) a Move Action, then you have to dodge as normal.
You don't teleport there.
Why would you?

just cause you failed bloodlust doesn't mean that all the normal rules for movement disappear ;]

if you are next to thrall at the end of your action then you can bite one, if you aren't next to one it is usually a good idea to move next to one

so you dodge to get there, if you fail the dodge it is a turnover and the vampire goes to the reserves, note even if there is a thrall next to the target square you fall over in, you can't bite them as you failed the dodge which ends your action

I agree, but I've seen the rule misinterpreted and applied as if blood lust ignores the normal run of play (i.e., ignore dodging).

I was under the impression that they transformed into bats and flew over next to a thrall, bit him, then transformed back. .

So, really, playing vamps is about running 9 thralls towards the EZ, while the ball carrier runs the other way. Then try to roll a 1 for bloodlust if a thrall gets there?
Wow, that just sounds so weird

Ah, I see. Silly me.
I just hadn't figured out which parts of the rules to ignore, and which ones not to ignore.
Darn - if only it was described somewhere, so I wouldn't have to guess

You have to buy the Tobybowl Add-on pack. Not only does it come with the "correct" interpretation of the "rules."

But it also comes complete with TV 200 "legit" teams with the only proper build for each race. (Either you can play as them, or simply use them as a model of how to develop your team.)
