Are improvement rolls compulsory?

Post by fitch-face »

Is it compulsory to take an improvement when rolling on the improvement table? I know it is in Cyanide but I don't know if it is in league play. The CRP says "On any improvement roll you may choose to take a new skill" which makes it sound optional. I know the use of "may" is probably just a reference to the 10-12 results but I just wanted to make sure.

Cheers.

It is. It used to be optional on Cyanide until it was pointed out to them that this was incorrect.

Just before the bit you quoted (which is a "may" because you can choose stats) it states that a player with enough SPP "immediately makes an improvement roll". There is nothing to suggest the result of the roll may be rejected or ignored.
