From my own desire to separate ball handling from dodging, and from threads here and [url=viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27529] amongst others I give you this (probably rubbish) suggestion:
The stuff in RED is even more out there, to the point I'm not convinced myself.
All +1 bonuses for agility rolls are removed (Pick up, Dodge).
All Pass rolls have -1 from the current (so QP is 0, SP is -1 etc)
The following skills have a +1 bonus added: Sure Hands, Dodge, Pass
A new Extraordinary skill is added: Agile - a player with this skill adds +1 to their dodge rolls (cannot be combined with the bonus from Dodge).
The following players have Agile added: any Elf player (Dark, High Wood and Pro), Slann Catcher
Hmmm, sounded a lot better in my head - perhaps I shouldn't have waited 3 hours before getting this written down. Oh well, will leave this up as an example on "how not to design a house rule", and in case it actually germinates a good idea for someone.

Removing the Agility Bonus

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Re: Removing the Agility Bonus
I look forward to seeing Ag 2 teams try and dodge... Makes their game even more predictable. Ag 3 teams will be suffering a lot more when picking up and shifting the ball around. Kills passing?
How about limiting the affect of Ag 4/5/6? Say Ag 4 only improves dodging, Ag5 acts as the old Ag4 with better dodge and Ag6 as the old ag5 with better dodge.
Elf teams need to be able to dodge, but also have specialist passing game players to compensate for the lose there?

Re: Removing the Agility Bonus
So you want to reduce the impact of AG except for elves and slann, teams that most likely benefit /use AG?

Re: Removing the Agility Bonus
Congratulations, you've just destroyed all stunties, 3+ dodges make up a little for the St2 as they can disengage, however 4+ dodges will seriously reduced that option.Darkson wrote:

Also, they need doubles for ball handling skills ( Surehands) so that's another nail in the coffin.....
Want to get jiggly......?
Remove all Ag4 from non star players, replace with the "agile" skill you mentioned.
Personally I have no problem with this part of the game, there are things I'd like to see before this change....

Would be a better solution. The problem seems to be progression not the starting stats per say.glowworm wrote:

Re: Removing the Agility Bonus
If that's true, the solution might be simply to split Dodge into Dodging and Defense. Takes Elves more levels to get uber, taking them down a peg. Let Stunty keep both skills, give AG3 teams better starting access than AG4 teams. Give Amazons the Defense but not the Dodge (except Catchers). Give Gutter Runners and other catcher types Dodge but not Defense. etc. Then do the same with Tackle: give Dwarves the anti-dodge but not the anti-defense (except maybe Blitzers), maybe add in a -MV to the anti-dodge to improve its value. etc.Chris wrote:Would be a better solution. AG4 is always going to be awesome as long as it does the 2 things (ball, dodging). Giving Elves standard access to a one-skill solution to mobility and defense, both of which only add to their already-awesome AG4, is over-powered. Similarly the power of Tackle against Dodge is silly in mature leagues, but mainly because Dodge is so good.
The other thing worth considering is taking A access away from Elf linemen, or just the AV8 ones (High, Dark).

Re: Removing the Agility Bonus
Me no like.
It just looks like passing will become even rarer, elves become relatively better, the hybrid teams lose a fair bit, stunties become even worse and bashers would probably benefit a bit (they'd struggle more with pick ups and the very occasional dodge, but would benefit from non-elves not wanting to/failing more often trying to dodge away from them).
I don't think it is really a problem which needs fixing, but you could have an additional dexterity stat which would account for ball handling. So you could see players like dwarves and CWs being more dexterous than they were agile, but say a witch elf more agile than they were dexterous.
