Do the elves need a new 'diving tackle' equivalent to replace the old 3rd Ed DT?

I don't understand this poll. What was the 'old' DT?

To allow access for other races in addition to elves. I have doubts about the possible balance impact, but if it must be included, then I'd like it to be general trait.

I think Stiff Arm is more likely to be abused by say a Bull Centaur (S5 when being blitzed :ouch:) than a Gutter Runner. That's why I'd put it in agility.

Agreed whole-heartedly Ian ... that's why its an Agility skill in the MBBL ... and Mestari ... like I said ... I'm not seeing the abuse there yet. Of course for a Bull Centaur ... an Agility skill is the same as a General trait ... but I've yet to have any ST 4+ players take Stiff Arm on doubles in the MBBL2. When the league goes challenge and a lot more games are getting played ... we'll see what happens.

Well, the BC can still take it as an agility skill too, so the balance issue hardly disappears there, ian.
But about the balance issue, I'm not stating it as a fact, simply as a concern. Unfortunately I'm not completely convinced by the data presented (cf. Studio League and 3rd ed DP), but it would be great if we can come into conclusion that it's balanced. Would be a nice skill.

If Stiff Arm is made a skill, I'd like to see Dauntless become a general skill instead of a trait. It's the counter skill, and should be readily available for teams to use. Making it a general skill should in itself help out the Elves a fair bit in any case.

i'd probably even quity whining about diving tackle if dauntless were a skill again.

i'd promise to at least whine less frequently and loudly :)

Now there is one I agree with you on Wes .... Dauntless is a skill in my league.

OooOOOooOOhhh [long moan].
Puh-lease don't bring back the old diving tackle.
Not in the form of stiff arm.
Not in any form.
If I never see it again it would be a million years too soon.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I still meant for it to be an agility trait so only players with agility access can get it at all.

Martin ... what do you have against Stiff Arm??? I've found it a speciality skill in the MBBL2 that I see about as often as Tackle and the rule are reallly easy to use.

Hi Galak,
maybe I'm not completely up to speed. The Stiff Arm version I'm familiar with was proposed by Doug (AFAIK) and was pretty close to the old diving tackle.
And I hate diving tackle.

Also, I've seen many new homemade skills. Some great, some not so great. I see no particular need to add stiff arm - without opening a big discussion about what else to add.

The Stiff Arm I'm familiar with is the "inverse horns" (so +1 strength when being blitzed so long as your opponent has moved at least 1 square).

I don't see this being broken or open to abuse as an Agility trait.

Yep, but they've just given up a double so deserve something a little tasty.

But it has to be a trait, definitely.
