personally or as a commissioner managing the community? personally isn't it obvious: play less for a while or take a complete break.

as a commissioner managing the community, i'd put a little space between seasons and/or run some sort of niche event that let's some people take a short break while others can still play if they feel like it.

Why are you at all the games? Do the players need hand-holding?

Play something else. Works for me.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Yeah, take a break!

Buy a copy of Eclipse. By the time you get bored of that, you'll probably be ready for more Bloodbowl.

Playing stunty teams could help if taking a clean break won't cut it. They make things less frustrating as it's ok to lose. Plus chainsaws, bonehead rolls and thrown halflings are fun!

Don't play -any- game on the computer anymore and keep you blood bowl playtime to table top... it will naturally regulate yourself to once a week or two. Go take some fresh air with the wife and play with the kids. Go see some friends or make new ones. Read more. Rest your mind by unwinding it well before going to sleep.

Move.

Rest.

Live.

Stop playing immediately and permanently, then sell all your BB stuff to me for a massively reduced price! ;-)

As said before, play something else a few times/weeks.
I introduced a couple of time-off weeks between competitions in my league (to deal with that), so the crew can either get together and play other games or just get away for that time.

It's fine to feel that you need a break, but before you had better consider whether their league/tournament will still exist when you return. I've seen well-developed and long-standing leagues go dark because one or two prominent coaches decided they needed a break.

You don't necessarily owe it to anyone to continue playing a game you don't enjoy, but be aware of the potential consequences.

I think it is important to have a second in command that can pick up the slack when it feels like the league is too much. We plan 14 events a year in Thunderbowl, 10 game days, 2 Cup days, Spike! magazine major tournament, and our local tournament Thunderkrunch.

We have a leadership/organizing group of seven coaches four of which are elected by the membership, and when elected they must take on a volunteer task. This has greatly helped the many little things get done that added up to a lot for the commish.

I guess my point is, try and spread out the workload as commish as much as possible. S.

Quite lucky at our club as we are part of a wargaming club. Playing every other week allows people to play other things so "burn outs" don't occur. Maybe playing board games in between if you are interested in them. There is a massive market now and you can find a game for almost anything, a few weeks of change could do some good.
