Again Experimental on Starplayers

Post by Toby »

Lets assume one could buy Stars permanently again.

So, when the existing Stars on the Starplayer Cards are re-created from their Basic Player Positions, what TITLE would they have, how much would they COST, and how much Apearance FEE would they Charge ?

Example Griff Oberwald:

Title: Legend, Star Player Rolls 7, Apearance Fee: 70K, Cost 160 K

Blitzer 90K 7338 Block
Star 160K 8448 Block, Dodge, Leap, Sprint, Sure Feet

Each Star Player Roll increases the Cost by 10 K
Each Star Player Roll increases the Fee by 10 K

thx for your help

I'd really rather not...but for the sake of the argument ok.

Well, assuming we're working with the BB2K1 rules - which we are, because the cards and so on are NOT coming back - there will NEVER be a team that can consistantly afford that 70k per match.
We'd need to extend the SPP table beyond seven rolls.
In the example, you'd have to play 16 games - managing to keep Griff alive for all of them - for it to be worth not just freebooting him every game.

Its actually a reasonable idea...but totally impractical.

This doesn't factor in a few things.

Block normally costs 20k, while other skills are generally worth 10k. You may want to calculate 20k for skills a player doesn't normally have access to either.

I can't remember extactly but for starting players MA & Av are ~10k, AG is ~20K, and St 4 is worth ~60k more than S3. Which would make Griff worth 260k (all his skills are AG skills).

Then how do you calculate the reduction in value of being peaked? You'd want to make Stars with few skills cheaper since they can't progress, but this should effect Griff.

Thadrin:
Not all Stars are LEGENDS = 70K
A High Elf Dragon Prince is a Veteran only, because
Rookie High Elf Dragon Warrior 100K 7348 Block
Veteran High Elf Dragon Prince 130K 7448 Block, Dauntless (130K=100+10 ST+1 +20K Dauntless Double)
A VETERAN Charges only 20K Apearance Fee per Game.

Star Players are not peaked. They start with the minimum Star Player Points required for their Title. When they gain additional Star Player Rolls, they AGE as well and Charge 10K more Apearance Fee per Level. Not even Griff is peaked, but he cant get any more Star Player Rolls, so his Additional Star Player Points are wasted, but increase Team Rating.

There must be more money in the game, in order to USE stars. You are Right. Please look at "A League of Their Own" for Ideas how to do that.
Remember, Stars are desinged to be used by Power Teams AGAINST Power Teams.

Williams:
Excellent Idea ! To keep things simple:
All characteristic increases and normal Skills cost 10K.
Every GAINED Skill, Trait, Physical Ability, Special and Secret Weapon THAT REQUIRES A DOUBLE costs 20K.
Every LOST Racial Characteristic costs 20K. Agreed ?

So a Blitzer Star Player costs 200K

90K Blitzer
+ 30K (ST+1, AG+1, MA+1)
+ 80K (Dodge, Leap, Sprint, Sure Feet)

Star Players Like Blitzers use up a Blitzer Slot.
Thank you for your Feedback.

Actually if you are calculating the cost of a player try this:

Jervis Johson Blood Bowl Player Cost Formula

All models start with 5 points, to which is added the following

MOVEMENT
MA 2 = -4
MA 3 = -3
MA 4 = -2
MA 5 = -1
MA 6 = 0
MA 7 = +2
MA 8 = +3
MA 9 = +4

STRENGTH
+ / - ((ST - 3) * 3)
plus a further 3 points if the ST > 3
plus yet another 3 points if ST > 6

ARMOUR VALUE
AV 5 = -4
AV 6 = -3
AV 7 = -2
AV 8 = 0
AV 9 = 1
AV 10 = 3

AGILITY
+ / - ((AG - 3) * 2)

SKILLS & THINGS
see below for costs

Cost In GPs

Right, having got the points value you can convert it into a cost for the player.

If the points value is 10 or less, then the players value is:
GPS = pts * 10,000

If the points value of the player is 11 or more, then the players value is:
GPS = 100,00 + ((points - 10) * 5,000)

-----------------------------------------------------
The point values for skills, traits, and racial characteristics are all 2 points each each except the following:
0 point skills: Throw TeamMate
1 point skills: Frenzy, Horns, Leap (AG 3 or less), Pass (AG 3 or less), Right Stuff, Stunty, Thick Skull, Very Long Legs
3 point skills: Big Hand, Block, Claw, Dauntless, Guard, Leader, Multiple Block, Razor Sharp Claws, Regeneration, Stand Firm, Strong Arm, Titchy

1 point bonus: Players starting with both Block and Dodge.

Negative traits are all -2 points except the following:
0 point trait: Always Hungry
-1 point trait: Stand up rules for Treemen
-3 point traits: Off for a Bite, Really Stupid, Take Root

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
so if you crunch the numbers for Griff:
8448 Block, Dodge, Leap, Sprint, Sure Feet =
5+3+6+2+3+2+2+2+2=27 so that 10+(17/2)=18.5 or 185k which is why Griff since starting cost is 180k.

Without almost no exceptions, every roster and star player is within 15k of the cost calculated by this formula.

Thanks Galak. That's exactly what I was thinking of, but didn't have it to hand.
