Toby, I just have 2 questions:

- in your system, the starplayers would be allowed to gain more SPP ?
- if yes, what about ageing rolls ? For example, your human blitzer legend (let's call him Griff ;) ) would have a very thin probability to develop these stats, so without having some ageing rolls... It's not realistic.

They would be treated like normal players, except only one SP each, 4 SP max, SP uses Position. Not even sure if Appearance Fee makes sense in league play.

Regarding Griff:
I just did a conversion - feel free to suggest balancing changes like adding aging results he might have suffered.

Thx for precisions ... I have no suggestions for Griff... This guy was well known to be unbalanced under 3rd edition, so if you add the possibility to earn SPP... BTW, let's imagine this guy succeds in your league, avoiding those great BOBs, Mummies , ... how it will run (for the other too) when having a SPP roll > an ageing roll ?

An idea for ageing: a random table. The starplayer is OK for coming in your team but becoming a permanent player is a real pain for him... Training every morning, training every afternoon ... So roll a dice

1: ouch, too hard ! The starplayer isn't used to follow some trainings sessions. Roll 3 (or another number, don't know) ageing rolls DIRECTLY without regarding his SPP level.
2-5: hey, not easy ! The starplayer has to adapt to the work asked during the training sessions. Roll the dice in order to know if he will suffer from ageing (depends on his SPP level).
6: erm ... I've done it sooooooo many times before: starplayer is able to follow the rest of the team during the training sessions. Roll only 1D3 dice, without considering his SPP level, in order to know if he would suffer from ageing.

OK, this is far from perfect. I like lady luck ;) ...

I for one never had any problem with Griff whatsoever. The only thing he's marginally good for is scoring, which (in the old system at least) just took SPP's from people who could actually use them.

In fact, my friend Steve and I have a record going which stands to this day. In the 8 games that have been played where Griff was fielded against either me or Steve, Griff did not survive the game. Usually not even through fouling or anything. So bring Griff against me. I'd like to keep the record going. It's been stuck at 8 for like 5 years, since nobody uses stars anymore.

To be honest, for my money Zug is a much better player. He's a real cheap anchor on the line, that's really tough to push around. He does what star players should do: be useful without taking SPP from somebody else.

Agree with you, but having Griff in your team should mean your opponent makes him his first "target", as you said here... And during this time, the other players can play the game and score... I don't know if you see what I mean ...

About Griff, its also the thing of getting him for the cup finals, where winning means everything and developing the team is put back. Having Griff in a final is a very big bonus for a human team. I would not consider having any star in normal league games, as its just boring not developing you own stars, even if you loose games doing so.

Thx for your oppinions so far.

First of all i only tried to do a conversion, based on LRB 1.3, recreating every star from a rookie player on his team roster. I have to edit the posting a bit, the bull centaur for example is not a big guy.

Note that Big Guys cannot use team re-rolls and had racial characteristics added. That alone balances stars a lot.

DFC note that the Human Blitzer (Griff) is already a Legend. He can earn SPP but he cant get any more Star Player Rolls.

I will remove the appearance fee, it doesnt make sense.
The idea is to trade MONEY for STAR PLAYER POINTS. This has to have pros and cons. Pro is obviously that you get a complete player, con is the high price. Its also a con that you have to accept the predesigned skill-set.

I would like to balance those stars. That means first of all adding the ageing effects because the Stars are taken directly from 3rd edition so they miss ageing, So i would suggest to give every star a niggling injury, for example.
