Thick Skull a Racial Characteristic ?

Post by Toby »

I dont know if anybody noticed:

As a physical trait, Thick Skull is availiable to Skaven, Rat Ogre, Chaos and Minotaur players.

Actually, Chaos Dwarf, Bull Centaur, Dwarf, Kroxigor, Minotaur, Ogre and Treeman players have a Thick Skull.

Because of that, to me, it would make more sense to make Thick Skull a Racial Characteristic. (Can never be lost or gained)

Oppinions ?

Its pretty irrelevant since I can't see anyone taking it instead of the many superior physical abilites (Spikes if you want to reduce injuries).

Yes, but what's the point in changing anything if it doesn't make a difference?

Its never crossed my mind, as there are far more physical abilities I would rather take.
Its a fair point though Toby. Wouldnt bother me either way.

Its more about a system of whats in the game and why...

A skill is availiable to all types of players.
A trait is only availiable to specialists.

A characteristic depends on races, not training.
A secret weapon is a piece of equipment.

Zy Nox, whats a "fair point thought" ? (i'm from munich ;)
it translates like 8) . :?:

We brought this up in October for the reasons described. It didn't pass the vote. I feel it makes a poor mutation, because I can't think of a good way to model it. But you could always replace your model's head with an oversized one ;)

It means a valid point for discussion, or argument.

Sorry If I were a little harsh in my early posts.

If they make no difference, then there's no point in changing..

Although, few things have that characteristic.. For instance, thick skull as a RC would probably not make any difference to advancing teams.. But it might be more logical to have it as one.

The reason for this post is to say that I don't think "it makes no apparent difference" isn't a valid argument (yes, I changed the wording).

Thick Skull

I personally liked the 2nd Edition rules, where everybody has had the chance to get thick skull. The toughness skill is also worth mentioning in my eyes. (It reduced the injury roll by it's level)
