Many races play Blood Bowl from Storm Giants and Snakemen to Elementals and Giant Spiders almost one of everything has been involved in a team at some point (with very mixed success). On occasion however some unique teams have formed consisting of players of rare and lesser known races. The Southstorm Squids are one such team made up of the hidden away Squid Men.
----------------
1928: The Great Deep One (an ancient and magical Squid) moves from his usual hunting grounds south west of Lustria and into the ocean between the old and new world. Devouring merchant and war vessels he digests various men taking what knowledge they have for himself.
2044: After a great battle between the High Elves of Ulthuan and the Great Deep One, the ancient Squid creates his own version of man to defend him and to patrol the surface. These look like normal men apart from the pale green skin and the rather unsettling head of a Squid. The Squid Men can only survive on the surface for so long without water so rarely venture out unless it's raining.
2399: Centuries pass and the Squid Men learn more of the other races throughout the world. They discover the game of Blood Bowl from coastal towns and report back to the Great Deep One.
2411: The Southstorm Squids play their first game of Blood Bowl with a convincing 0-3 loss to the BilBali Archers in record time (8 minutes). The Squids admit they didn't prepare for the game very well and that playing in the heat of Estalia with no water around may have led to the.. err... dehydration of the players.
2430: After a few more seasons in the amateur leagues the Squids manage to hire former BilBali Archers wizard Jeven Arrendil and with his help they ensure that storms and torrential rain follows them on the surface world.
2465: In one of the greatest upsets in Blood Bowl history, the Southstorm Squids not only make it to the Blood Bowl but also beat the much fancied Middenheim Marauders after only five years in the league.
2480: Fifteen years of abject failure later the Squids finally admit that they may have used magic to influence the result.. and the teams that played. Both the Vynheim Valkyries and the Worlds Edge Wanderers come forth and say they were sure they'd played in the final as well that year but had thought it may have just been too much drink and chaos reigns as the winners are changed almost every week over indecision as to who actually won. The Chaos god of record keeping Gh'iness is thought to have a hand in this as well...
2491: After the breakup of the NAF the Squids find it impossible to get teams willing to play 10,000m under the sea for home games and so go on a fund raising trip. A massive storm causes the Squids to find themselves washed overboard off the coast of Estalia.
Present: Almost 20 years to the day of the disaster the Squids manage to swim back to the Great Deep Ones underwater city. With new found riches from various exciting adventures we won't go into details here the Squids reform under the leadership of the only Squid to make it into the Hall of Fame – Winston Calamari and are looking to get their hands.. err.. tentacles? Suckers? Beaks? On the ball once more
