Nurgle rotters disabanded

Post by juck101 »

Just raed teh fluff again and the iconic 'Nurgle Rotters' team disbanded when the NAF started. But am I correct that the new star player with the big mouth skills in BB2 is listed as being a Nurgle Rotters player.

Any other fluff which is contradictory?

The Nurgle's Rotters did disband after a hard season or two yes. But they have since reformed, as mentioned in the Almanac/DZ1.

That however is background lore, part of the ongoing story of the setting.

There are a great many Nurgle aligned teams in the BB world, of which the Rotter's were the first. The team roster can represent any one of those rosters, not just the Rotter's themselves. Gobbler will play for Nurgle rosters.
Background wise, he made his debut playing for the Chaos Chosen team the Crimson Spikes.

A hard season?

I thought the Rotters disbanded (“fell apart”) when the NAF collapsed, as the end of organized play meant they struggled to find enough opponents to infect (“fill up their ranks”).
And then they disappeared on their way to Norsca.
Until a Norse fisherman found one of their players in an ice-block and the Rotters were reborn. And that's why their Beast of Nurgle is/was Tiddles, the shipcat.
At least that's how it was in 3rd Handbook p.30 & 3rd Death-Zone p.30, reprinted in 4th Handbook (probably) p.53 & 74 (recruitment issues) and BBMagazine 5 p.5, reprinted in BBAnnual03 (Norsca trip).

Sounds like a couple of hard seasons to me.

OK :)
I thought hard seasons meant they got knocked about so much they fell to pieces.

I must have been thinking of the first Nurgle Rotters rules. :)

Oh no, they had a really rough couple of seasons. Losing a match or two or suffering a few injuries is one thing, but they got lost on a frozen glacier travelling to an invitational match in Norsca, froze to death and fell in the sea.

Always remember when complaining about a bad season to say to yourself "at least I'm not stuck on a frozen glacier waiting to fall into the sea".

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.
