That's a standard pitch.

I'm pretty sure the actual minis are the old human team. The thing that caught me off guard was that I thought the minis were lined up perfectly to the corner of the squares, making them seem larger. And even though the illustrationi on the pitch is the same, the grid could have been different.

Just out of curiosity: Where did that picture come from?
Looks like a minor tournament to me...

Given that this is really playtesting, I guess they're playtesting rules, using the old equipment.
This could mean that no changes to the board will be made.
Or it could mean, no changed equipment has been manufactured yet.

I really hope for only slight changes from CRP...

There is nothing to be afraid about, Regash: whatever they are going to do is going to be official ;)

I just checked it out. (I normally don't do facebook!)
There was a teaser graphic for the new board, the center logo at least, and even that had no grid on it they assured the people twice that that was only because of presentation, the final product will have a grid.
So, probably just a new design instead of a new mechanic, at least on the board.

I'd be stunned if they didn't bring out new pitch graphics for the re-dux of bloodbowl. I'd guess that everything will be new and updated, but the board size will remain the same scale and size.

Yeah, since they are rule testing on an old pitch kind of gives me hope for a visual update only!

From the FB post that accompanied the photo (emphasis mine):

"These tireless individuals, selflessly giving up their own free time to test the new season guidelines for this great game."

So, these playtesters appear to be working on season rules rather than match rules. The Bank? Aging (shudder)? Matching Cyanide's Inducement system? New Special Play cards?

Also, they're being referred to as "guidelines."

Thoughts?

My thought is, the less they change, the happier I'll be.

If the rulebook is CRP plus the three "semi-official races", maybe reformatted with more fluff but the same crunch; a new field (same scale) and two pretty new teams (same scale), I will be so happy.

+1

Although given that every time they have released a new box set they have at least changed the pitch, I expect some sort of change to 'force' people to buy the new box.

From reading their posts, I had the impression that the "new season" meant the next incarnation of the game.

Well they actually brought out the same boxed set in both 1998 and then in 2002. Those boxes contained sprues dated 1994, so perhaps the same set came out then as well (perhaps that was the Astrogranite one?). They didn't change the pitch in the 1998 and 2002 versions, but I get your point, they were not new boxed sets, just the same one.
