Blood Bowl back at Warhammer World

Post by axiom »

Looks like GW are moving fast to follow up the news of a new game later this year with a tournament at Warhammer World - the Bugmans XXXXXX League Cup - in May.

Details are here: http://warhammerworld.games-workshop.co ... eague-cup/

EDIT: NAF have been in dialogue with GW and clarified some of the details. Update is here:

I am a bit shocked about one or two sentences...
Additional: All miniatures in your collection must be Games Workshop miniatures and be fully assembled, painted and based. Each model must fully represent what you have presented on your team roster, and be 100% obvious which player they are. - See more at: http://warhammerworld.games-workshop.co ... dkR3B.dpuf
Are they actually expect people to have a shiny, original, 100 % representative all-GW team after the game has been OOP for 10+years?!?
Rules in use: We will be slightly modifying the Blood Bowl Living Rulebook v.5, last published in 2006. - See more at: http://warhammerworld.games-workshop.co ... dkR3B.dpuf
Wait... LRB 5? WHAT?!? :o
Hasn't the CRP been the last official rule set?

Seriously? :orc:

What's the NAF view on this?

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

The rule for only using painted GW models has been in force at WHW for at least 15 years, for all events. I have no issue with that - it is their house after all.

I don't think so as the "changes" have been shown on the website.
Go check it out!

I couldn't care less as I'm not going to UK for a tournament and, even worse, don't attend tournaments at all.

The rules changes look to be pretty huge
Rules in use: We will be slightly modifying the Blood Bowl Living Rulebook v.5, last published in 2006. Modifications will include:
[*]Higher starting gold pieces count to allow for greater variety to teams.
[*]Star Players can be bought as part of your team
[*]No players actually killed or can miss games – means you have your whole team all weekend.
[*]Bugman’s Sponsorship available for one of your players.
[*]One player of your choice earns one skill every game, guaranteed.
[*]No need to record Star Player Points, expenses, treasury etc; very simple league play.
[*]League Points earned for Completions, Touchdowns, Casualties, Interceptions and Players Sent Off for Fouling. Whether you win the games doesn’t actually matter.

I assumed the rules stated were just for the event, which is common to most tournaments, rather than changes to the core rules.

Without seeing full caveats and small print that sound a lot like a fairly standard 1.1M gc Resurrction tournament, one skill per game, little fluffy bonus - Bugmans thing, lots or tourneys allow stars

Oh yes, I assume the same and they do state that. The bolded bit was the big change as the rest of the stuff looked to be pretty standard for tabletop tournaments.

it's a 1.3 million starting team which is on the larger side too.

It is fairly standard apart from they're giving you 1.3M to build the roster with. Oh my! I think the highest Tv tournament I've played before was 1.2M.

Interesting and great to see BB getting more attention.

The "use only GW miniatures" rule was to be expected and I guess they'll find enough people owning the original GW teams.

But isn't this a bit early? I thought (according to rumours), the new BB will be released at the end of 2016.
Would it not make more sense to have a tournament closer to the release date or maybe to celebrate the release date?

That's just tournament resurrection rules.

What I'm not seeing is anywhere to get the rulebook from gw. Do they just expect people to know the rules?
