Thanks for that link adhansa. I did think of Ghosts myself, but wondered how that would play out plus it's another Undead team. Then I thought perhaps a Ghost Star player. Looking back over the old GW metal stuff, they did bring out the Night Horrors range, and later renamed some of them as the Ethereals range. So ethereals could cover quite a range of team positions. I mean Vampires are ethereals, having that ability.

Another idea, how about an Empire team?

They are a lot more interesting than certain other human realms, you could have flagellants (possibly using the fanatic rules), engineers, warrior priests, halflings and maybe even dwarfs.

I feel like this is something that's been argued about before :-D

Blood Bowl is a team sport, teams are made up of athletes. They are not a scaled-down Warhammer armies, and not every warhammer unit needs an equivalent position in Blood Bowl.

Just like the Soccer World Cup teams don't feature players representing iconic units in their countries' military or history. Team France doesn't reserve spots for the Foreign Legion. Team Japan doesn't field samurai. Team England does not field Gurhkas, and if they did, they wouldn't be allowed to use knives.

Not to mention that many iconic teams in the Empire are explicitly Human teams. And in the original lore, human nations the world over fielded human teams. Why should a Tilean Blitzer be different from an Empire Blitzer or a Kislev Blitzer? They're all humans. Paint them different colors if you want, give them different names, but no need to have dozens of different variant Human teams.

I feel like this whole thread is thinking about this backwards. The question shouldn't be, "what Warhammer races/cities/whatever need new Blood Bowl teams?", we should be asking, "What kind of team are we missing, crunch-wise?"

There are four different Elven teams and those aren't even the only "Agility" options - Slann and Skaven are also pretty good at mobility and ball handling. We have tough teams and wimpy teams. We have teams which can hit hard, and teams which can't. Fast teams and slow teams. Is there some type of team which we are missing? Some hole that none of the 24 existing teams fill? 25 with Khorne? 26 with Brets?

A very good lookout rolo. I've started putting my letter to GW together but will hold off posting it as your post may well take this thread somewhere further.

@rolo.

I cant agree with you since we have witch elf, wardancers, troll slayers, Chaos Warriors, Bull Centaurs, Gutter Runners etc.
These are all warhammer fantasy warriors type players, not athletes. So what you are saying, is not true (it may be, when referring only to the human team).
Having these type of players and 4 different elf and undead teams is very warhammery.

But I agree, that we should look more on what we are missing, when designing new teams...
I think we are missing a trickster team, with a stab pos. that people actually want to use, some starting shadowing, sneaky git and maybe stripball.

The trickster team was close to what I tried to create with the Fishman roster. Diving Tackle, Shadowing, Break Tackle and Hypnotic Gaze all on the same roster.

A roster so universally loved that absolutely nobody has ever replied to it on this thread: http://talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopi ... =4&t=41685

Read your other post fella, just because of few replies, doesn't mean it's wasted time. It made me look up shadowing. now if you had a few on the team with that skill, that could get rather annoying.

Problem if he's paid, then that's profit from GW's IP? but there's nothing to stop the players coming together and creating something to take the game forward, or in a different direction (as I mentioned earlier with Epic).
Unfortunately, Jervis doesn't have anything to do with the current rules anymore -- he's focused strictly on the core games. Specialist games are being handled by Forgeworld.

Wifflebat wrote:The Heroes of Law team I've been kicking around goes something like this:

1-12 Human Linemen 6 3 3 8 G ASP
1-12 Halflings 5 2 3 6 Dodge, Right Stuff, Stunty A GSP
1-2 Dwarves 4 3 2 9 Guard, Thick Skull GS AP
1-2 Elves 7 3 4 7 (I was thinking unskilled, maybe Nerves of Steel) GA SP
1 Treeman 2 6 1 10 Mighty Blow, Stand Firm, Strong Arm, Take Root, Thick Skull, Throw Team-Mate S GAP

Rerolls 50K

The idea is, under-skilled, but unlike the Chaos teams, not subject to Animosity (or even Loner on the trees!). Rerolls are cheap because they're so well-coordinated. I know that no animosity is very contrary to GW fluff, but I thought that a feeling of actual teamwork might work as the team's "hook" since they don't get anything like the mutations that Pact or Underworld get. The guard on the dwarves would reflect this, and also be unique for a starting skill. Pricing would have to be adjusted accordingly and I haven't thought about that too much. A good build where you could start with three rerolls would be ideal.
I'd say stick to the basic linemen. Go with Dwarf Longbeards and either High Elf/Wood Elf/Pro Elf Linemen. I could even see giving two High Elf AND two Wood Elf linemen. I think the reroll cost and lack of animosity balances well with the lack of mutations, and an extra couple of 4AG players could offset the fact that Pact get THREE big guys. If not, maybe you need to add an Ogre AND a Treeman. Maybe reduce the halflings to 0-6 or 0-4, because Pact only get one Goblin.

I have always liked the idea of a "good" mixed-race team. But leave Saurii for a potential Lustrian mixed-race team.

Ah well, just ideas throwing out there. You know your stuff. Posted the letter today, likely I'll just receive a "thank you very much for your enthusiasm, it will be passed over to be reviewed," sort of thing. But I feel quite positive about it, and it felt good to send it off. who knows eh!

Not trying to knock your efforts, but my money is on "never hear from them again". Good luck tho.
