Anyone looking for 2nd and 3rd ed figures?

Post by bound for glory »

I reconnected with a old friend. Mr Ring was in our league back when 3rd ed dropped, and he was not only a dear friend, but he was a award winning figure painter(he used OILS and his work was unbelivable) and great player. He was a Boy Scout Leader and he got a bunch of the kids to join our group. Mr Ring played a skaven team, and man, could he play! I could tel a hundred stories about the man, who back then was 50 years old, and now he's 72.

Man, getting old sucks.

He had a Rat Ogre named "Big Moe", and that pain in the ass...

Anyway, we got to talking and my friend Scott said I should try looking him up, so I did and right away I Found his phone number. I called and got the machine, and I left my name and number. I had'nt talked to the man since, oh, 1995...

So I get a call from him Saturday, and we talked for about 2 hours. You know how that is... Yeah, he's just turned 72, and he still paints figures! But only bigger(60mm stuff) historical figures. He said he was going to EBAY his vast collection on Warhammer, 40k, Necromunda, Mordhime, and Blood Bowl.

The man is selling these figures BELOW current prices. He is selling teams IN THE BOX for $20. He has EVERY 2nd and 3rd edition figure what ever was made! All the blister pack figures, most of which are still in the blisters!

I am buying some. My league friends are buying some. If any here want to get some, at really great prices, LET ME KNOW! Tell me what you want, and I will get back to you about it! Its really a good way of filling out your collection. I scored 2 packs of the tiny Snotlings, unopened in the blister! I got an unopened Norsica Rampager box set! Also got a 2nd ed Dwarf Deathroller!

Let me know what you want! He is in no hurry to sell, as he is not doing it for the money(he's well off. He just wants to get rid of it.) SO ANYONE INTERESTED, PM ME!

After 2nd ed DEs and dwarves.

He could keep playing, you know. We have a 70 year old who makes it to every local tournament and is loved by everyone. Also a 66 year old who is somewhat less beloved.

+1

The NAF keeps having initiatives for Young Bloods, maybe they should have one for Old Farts. ;)
Anything that encourages players that make me feel young is a good thing.

I am currently trying to rebuild my 2nd ed Skaven team from my youth. It's a slow process as I can't really justify paying (normal) eBay prices.

I am missing both Blitzer miniatures right now and a handful of linerats.

It's a longshot but I'd appreciate you asking the question.

But as has already been said, it seems a shame that your friend is giving up.

Would absolutely love some unopened blisters (team box and booster pack preferred) of whatever is available for my collection as to have some unopened 2nd's would be amazing :)

RE Old Farts and he should keep playing. I invited him to join us. He was a really good player and a great person to have in the club. In fact, a league mate suggested I should try to contact him with the purpose of playing again.

But its been 22 years, and Mr Ring, er, Ed, is now 72 and he said he does'nt drive much, these days. And I am over 2 hours away(and we play at my joint, as my place is the only joint what can host 20+ nutjobs playing games), so while he certainly invited us up(by "us" I don't mean "all of us"), I would need a ride, too, as I don't drive far anymore, either(Destroyed back and all. In fact, I don't currectly have a License anymore. Tho I enjoy the occasional quite illigal drive to Burger King :D ).

So all kinds of pains in the ass.

OK. I got a bunch of contacts re buying good loot at great prices. And thats great. But you can't "cherry pick". I can't ask my friend to say, pull a certain figure out of an unopened blister or box. If someone wants a chaos mutant out of the Mutant blister, you gotta buy the whole blister. And while I have'nt asked those prices yet(Ed's still getting the lists togeather), its gonna be cheaper then EBAY.

I will contact everyone when Ed gets the lists togeather, which should be shortly.

No problem, Metal! If you were closer(I'm in NE PA) I'd have you over for a game!

I will be hooking you lot up, but again, I have to say that this stuff(Blood Bowl) is 2nd and 3rd edition.

No Khemri

No Lizardman

No 5th ed stars

There are(as far as I know) all the Necromunda Gangs and specials. Ed has a small collection of Battle fleet Gothic. But I don't know what just yet.

I will be putting up the lists either tonight or Wensday. This guy collected like a nut.

Looks like most of what you lot have asked for, he has.

Get the PAYPAL ready, lads. I will get the figures and take care of all that on my and my friends end. But be aware! I will be buying just about everything he has, and once I get it, it WILL NOT BE SOLD. So if you want what you asked me to get, buy it now.

Heres whats going on...

I will be taking orders, so to speak, for Blood Bowl stuff, first. I am being bombarded with pm's from people saying "I want so and so...Oh, yeah, I also want the 5th edition Ogres and Vampire team." Please read my first post! My friend collected 2nd and 3rd editions. He stopped at that point. HE HAS NOTHING ELSE!

Yes! He does have Necromunda stuff. This man has THOUSANDS of figures. And he's 72. So he's taking a bit of time getting to the Necromunda stuff. I don;t play that game, but I'm certainly happy to hook you guys up. But at this point, and until I get what you want for Blood Bowl, wait a bit for the Necromunda stuff. When he gives me the list, I will tell you what he wants for that.

And also, if you want Blood Bowl, stuff, LET ME KNOW NOW! Ed is going to ship this stuff to me, then I will ship to you. But we want to do this as a one time thing. Help me out, boys.

Thanks.

Sensible plan. SO, pending Necromunda (and maybe Battlefleet Gothic...) which I've already PM'd you about here's my Blood Bowl list;

3rd edition Chaos Mutants blister and Skaven Mutants blister
Bomber Dribblesnot, Headsplitter, Scrappa Sorehead and Ripper Bolgrot star players

Assuming all/any of those are on the list

Is he sure about selling all this stuff off so cheap?

With not that much effort he could probably make way more selling it on e-bay, or pay someone commission to do it for him. I've seen all the classic specialist games stuff go for silly money, especially if it is in blisters.
