I do hope we see one completely new never before seen team this time round. Something that is developed properly.

If I had the power to do it I would release the rules in a White Dwarf, and on line as experimental rules with appropriate warnings, let people play it, iterate through, get feed back and after going through revisions over a period of time give it a spike! With the official final versions. That's how most of our current teams got their final form and I think it worked well.

Aren't there a couple experimental teams in the Blood Bowl My Dugout App? Savage Orcs and Human Nobles?

But not sure there is enough data there.

I wouldn't mind Cyanide doing some more experimenting as they did with Khorne (to my understanding) as the data collection is built into the system.

I think I remember reading some where there was a couple more for Skaven and a Dwarf variant in there too. But the problem is none of those rosters seems to have reached critical mass and been adopted into leagues or tournaments to give them that opportunity to be assessed and evolve. In fact, various tournaments I have seen have specifically banned their use. Without play they can never be improved and refined to let them become viable options.

If GW were serious about using these as the basis of new accepted teams then (Short of just putting that BB2016 official logo on it, which is not what I am advocating for here!) then you would release something miniature related, either new models (unlikely) or some kind of conversion kit for an existing team, a couple special minis plus a sprue which changes the look.

I think savage orcs have real potential as a non mutating frenzy team. I don't think the team as presented is correct yet, but its not like Vampires came out fully formed or Norse have their original line up! But it would require people being open to the option, and just looking at stuff it WAY different to actually playing it. Frenzy is a double edged sword, pulling you out of position etc, and playing a one of game where you don't care what happens to the players (ie tournament) is different to how you play in a league both of which need to be considered. But they don't have to be of equal value there are a variety of teams that shine at different TVs and competition styles!

'New gangs never before seen' announced for Necromunda last weekend. Different specialist game obviously, but at least we now know that's a path they're happy to tread.
