Sooo full terrible roster is here -

0-12 Human linemen - usual stuff+ Animosity
0-1 Human Thrower - usual stuff+ Animosity
0-1 Human Catcher - usual stuff+ Animosity
0-1 Human Blitzer - usual stuff+ Animosity
0-2 Dwarf Blocker - usual stuff+ Loner
0-1 Dwarf Runner - usual stuff + Loner
0-1 Dwarf Slayer - usual stuff + Loner
0-1 Dwarf Blitzer - usual stuff + Loner
0-2 Halfling - usual stuff+ Loner
0-1 Ogre - usual stuff
70k rr

Sadly this roster is awful. nothing fun here. no need to take flings at all because they have loner. Massive wasted opportunity. Hopefully we get a day 2 errata...

What players were removed? (And not just reduced).

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Although, technically Underworld were not actually in the CRP and only officially released during BB2016 and so therefore GW haven't actually lied to us.

They never said they wouldn't alter BB2106 rosters

They removed 1 Blitzer and 1 Thrower. They wrote that "existing collections of miniatures will remain valid". I recently painted my Underworld team and I don't feel like my collection is still valid. I'm missing a lino and a runner and have 2 positional for the trash bin.

Well, actually they've REDUCED the amount of positional players you can take, but they didn't remove them ;) Anyways, it's a smart move companywise, if you want to piss of third party sellers a bit. I don't really care as I'm only a fun player, so it doesn't cause a problem for that kind of playstyle.

After seeing how fast third parties adapted to others things... they will sell expansion packs, and add them to current teams, if they see demand. Maybe even design new models and not just reuse previous ones. "Full team, valid for both old and new rosters, all different poses!!!one11eleven" 8)

Everything about this has just reinforced my previous belief that GW are a miniatures company who sell games for the figures, not a games company who sell miniatures for their games.
The underworld change and the new alliance roster both feel like they're about capitalising on stuff they had lying around way more than any thought about actual play.

I've never looked at that kind of stuff and was more speaking fron watching them change over time, but that comes as no surprise then that it is indeed their focus.

Shame really.

The Spike magazine indicates that the gutter runner can gain mutations on a single skill roll. Does this suggest that the roster indicating doubles only is incorrect?

It does, but twice in the text it implies that Gutter Runners have mutation access on a normal roll.

I was wondering if the strategy articles were written by a non-GW contributor, who may have had an outdated or incomplete version of the team. It may even have been written before the restructuring of the team, then edited to add bits about the Gutter Runners.

Ahh right. I had jumped straight to the rosters to look, and not read it all the way fully yet. My bad.

Right on the money.
A friend of mine used to work for GW. He says there was/is an explicit in-house saying: "Miniatures before paper rules"

Cheers
