So I'm new to gimp, this card is prefilled with griff, can I just delete and replace bits/stats/photo??

Yes, with GIMP you'll need to "rebuild" those elements, where as in photoshop I you can actually edit the text layers. Of course, once you've updated you template in GIMP, you'd be fine going forward. So this would be an initial time investment.

The easiest way is to "duplicate" the layers you want to edit, such as the text, image, etc. and then add your own text boxes. You can then hide or delete the psd text layers

It's a lot more work to do it through GIMP (but the cost is free so...), but the would be a great first project to get some GIMP experience under your belt.

I did a quick clean up for GIMP. Rather than having to edit each text box which is a pain in GIMP, the stats have all valid values available as a layer. Just make the characteristic number you want visible.

I also changed the passing and armor icons because... well because I was in there and I didn't like them.

You do still have to type in some of your own text, skills, plays for, name, Special rules. On those I made sure I put the font and size (in px) I used because again, editing text in GIMP is not a ton of fun.

Check this out, Roster version 3.7 by dreamscreator. It will actual create player cards from your roster.
