MUDBATH finally here

Post by Evil Git »

well its taken a while to get it all sorted and everything but finally, Manchester's premier blood bowl league* have finally got a website up and running due to me actually getting off my backside and doing what i said i would.

just wondering if

a) people can have a quick look at it and let me know what you think of it. I know it's not the prettiest thing in the world but then neither am i. just let me what improvements can be made.

b) think of anymore quotes for the top of the frames (yeah i know frames suck but oh well)

oh i suppose it would help if i gave the address wouldn't it. its www23.brinkster.com/mudbath

anyway cheers for this guys.

*this is only in relation that we don't know of any other leagues going in the manchester area (that's uk folks). if you know differently then let us know at mudbath_bb@hotmail.com

spelling mistake in your URL, it's here:

www23.brinkster.com/mudbath

although some of the tables aren't aligned properly and there are some spelling mistakes it looks fine. You've got loads of teams in your league though, are they all managed by different coaches?

ooops  and you'd never have guessed that i checked it all through afterwards would you DOH!

anyway, indigo nope, there's only five of us at the minute. it just gives a lot more variety for all the coaches to test teams that they like or that they think they may like.

bear in mind I'm super critical when looking at sites (it's my day job after all) so don't take what I say to heart ;-)

I like the idea of having 2 different divisions so you can try out new teams. Shame my local league can't even be bothered with one at the mo...

indigo

no worries on that. all criticism is good in my book. it just shows where i'm going wrong and then i can fix it.

BOO to your local league boys though. i take it there's a lot of javabbowl with you then.

Nice page Git, but I am missing the team rosters of the playing teams. I always like those on BB-related pages.

Keep up the good work :)

i did think about sorting that out, but with 32 teams going at once and lots of player deaths going around i figured it would be a nightmare to keep updated.

i'm also thinking of dropping the dearly departed section from the site as it's just too much work!!

32? It doesn't work with 12 coaches
Only our 3 to 4 hardcore players update their online roster regularly.
All the others do not seem to care ...

Some points (all IMO)

1) Your header is too big. Shrink the image to half its current size so its about the same height as the name.

2) The little caption & time ought to be right justified and on the same line

3) I really don't like frames (book marking etc become more awkward). You may want to try IFRAMEs instead.

4) Font sizes, never used fixed point values, just do size="+1" or whatever. Otherwise adjusting the text size in the browser doesn't work.

Have fun..
