BB pitch: sugestions 4 painting the lines...

Post by Axtklinge »

Inspired by some pics of BB stadiums, I'm in the midle of a project for my own BB field.
A few minutes ago I've started the dugouts "constrution", and while it the glue dryies I'm thinking in advance about the painting process...
I have all my teams with green bases (some stactic, some flock) so the pitch will defenatly be green (perhaps with some brown/earth zones.
The prob now are the "lines"!
Is there any easier (maybe even better) way to do those other than making a "mask" for the field and spray, or actually paint them ?

get a sponge edge roller. It will look like a thick pizza cutter with a smaller diameter and a yard stick. Make nice straight even lines. It's cheating but it looks very nice. Should be able to get the sponge edger at any hardware or DIY place. And post pictures of progress.

If it were me, i would do it thus.......

Take your board and paint the whole thing white.
go to a frame shop or better yet a car place (auto zone should work) and buy some pin striping tape. Lay out your line with the tape FIRST.

After your lines are taped, then flock your pitch, once dry just gentlely pull up the tape. Now you have smooth lines that are clear and flock free :)
