Khornate chaos team + mutating beastmen (added jan10)
Just finished my chaos team, with Khornate colours:
The idea is probably going to be that all the Warriors have to have Frenzy as their first skill, or Mighty Blow. I'd ideally like to build them up to Frenzy, Claw, Mighty Blow and Block hence the mutations.
I've made a chaos warrior with extra arms and an interchangeable big hand as well, as the idea does appeal to make a chaos warrior a ball handler... but I suspect I'll use the beastmen for that.
I've painted the beastmen with different skin / fur colours as I like to have every miniature as an individual if possible.
I've also had a go at making a lord Borak and Lewdgrip:
Not bad for £25 all in. ebay is great sometimes.
Bought a job lot of old chaos warriors for £5 plus p&p and stripped them and then broke them apart (they were superglued luckily so this was easy) i then re-built them as I wanted. I still have several arms, torsos etc for conversion if necessary.
Got 1 1/2 beastmen box sets worth of sprues for £15 plus p&p, so I still have 9 of the big beastmen and 12 of the smaller ones left over for other mutations if I need them (can see 2 heads being a likely needed mutation).
Managed ot get hold of a lord Ox roar minotaur for the chaos Minotaur. Really like this figure
here's how he looks 'vanilla' (in fact this is a second one - i got 2 as I thought I'd do a normal and a mutated one, but the conversion went so well I only needed one, so if someone would like him I'll swap for one of each of the high elf catchers and a HE thrower):
I removed the weapon, and freed his left hand, then cut the right arm at the bracer and repositioned, then removed his right hand and left arm from the elbow.
The idea is that you can then assemble him in various different combos as he mutates:
So, painted he looks like this when he joins the team:
Then he can gain claw, tentacles and prehensile tail, which I thought would be the most common mutations (cant see long legs or 2 heads being that useful on a mino):
So he has effectively 5 attachments that each have a double wire pin in the extra bit and sometimes a small piece of metal embedded between them, and then in the arm / bottom there is a built in magnet and pin holes so the extras just slot in:
I'm really pleased with him.
Well after a few months hiatus, I finally built and painted 3 more mutated Beastmen - big hands (GS), 2 heads (right hand magnetised so can be swapped for a claw / big hand) and extra arms / big hands
