Ah Axtklinge, sorry for leaving this thread so long without update. :)

After a long break, I have started to work on this project again. The biggest innovation is that I have made a website full of background, rules, galleries and game reports for Dungeonbowl - or rather for my house-ruled Dungeonbowl, which I call Dungeonbowl: Astrogranite Edition.

The website is here: http://senshichamber.com/dungeonbowl/

I am also working on new miniatures, both additions to the original ten teams and recruits for a new set of teams. For now, here is a quick group shot of one representative from each of the original ten teams.

Thank you! It's just a website template from the hosting company that I've filled in appropriately. I'm glad you like it, I'm happy with the galleries especially, since they gave me an excuse to take a bunch of new photos.

As an aside, I've adjusted a bunch of stuff for our DB league, including some of the negative racial characteristics. I'm contemplating the following two, and wondering if they might work well.

Take Root (Racial Characteristic)
A player with this ability must roll a D6 before taking any action. On the roll of a 1, the player is rooted. While rooted, the player has a tackle zone and may take actions as normal, but may only move one square per turn and may not Go For It. Keep rolling a D6 before the player takes his action while the player is rooted, and on a roll of another 1, the player stops being rooted. If a rooted player is knocked down for any reason, he stops being rooted.

Wild Animal (Racial Characteristic)
If a player with this ability begins his activation standing and adjacent to a standing friendly player, roll a D6 before taking an action with the player with this ability. On the roll of a 1, the player must use his activation to take a Block action and block the standing friendly player (choose a random target if more than one option), ignoring any assists.

Thank you, I'm so glad you like it. :D

I've collected the game reports I have posted here in the game reports section of the site too, and added some more text for flavour in some of them.

He is meant to be a troll, but yep, it sure is. :D Thank you! He turned out a little smaller than I intended, but I think he looks suitably gross too.

New game night last night, new setting, new opponent, new game report!

The competing teams this evening were the Elves of the Celestial Comets vs the Orcs of the Green Destroyers, two teams that had not faced each other before so far in the league.

The Destroyers had a numerical advantage, but were one man down, as a Hobgoblin had been badly hurt in their last game. The dungeon was small and dominated by a large pool of water in the middle of the dungeon floor.

Image

As the players moved forward, two chests were opened and neither contained the ball. A third chest was being guarded by an Orc Blitzer, and three Comets Elves advanced towards him. In a feat of cunning, the Orc pushed the chest towards the Elves and then opened it, hoping it would explode - and it did. The Orc and the three Elves were knocked down, and one of the Elf Blitzers were KO'd. Smart orc move.

Image

As another chest was opened, it did not have the ball either, so only two chests were left. One of the chests was underneath an elevated platform rising out of the pool and submerged in water. An Orc Thrower was guarding the chest, so the Elven Sorcerer snuck up behind him, and used his magical Phantom Hands spell to open the chest from a distance. However, rather than explode, this chest contained the ball.

Image

A nearby Elven Lineman then tried to get the ball, and succeeded, but then missed a pass to the Sorcerer. Elsewhere in the dungeon, the Destroyers Troll mauled an Elf Lineman and badly hurt him, sending him out for the rest of the game. Near the ball, the Destroyers had a mad Bombardier ready, who threw a bomb and blew up the Elf Sorcerer guarding the ball, knocking him down. The Orc Star Thrower grabbed the ball and passed it to a Hobgoblin, but the pass went wide and the ball ended up scattering to an interesting location - in a corner behind a chest, so it was not actually possible to reach the ball by any means. (Except by leaping, but none of the coaches thought of that at the time.)

The only way out of this conundrum to the Elves was for them to send a Dryad off towards the chest, who pulled the chest from out of the corner so that an Elf Lineman could go in and grab the ball.

However, this move was to be fatal. The Dryad was now standing next to a bottomless chasm, and suddenly, an Orc Lineman appeared from out of a teleporter. The Orc blitzed the Dryad, who was pushed back into the chasm. The Celestial wizards failed to save him, and so the Dryad was lost, falling eternally, as his name was scratched from the team roster.

At this point, a mad scramble to get control of the ball began. As the players began to get weary, the ball was grabbed and fumbled, passed and dropped, as casualties mounted on the Elf side. The Orc Bombardier went crazy, with bombs flying everywhere, and at least one Elf Lineman ending up badly hurt by an explosion. The Orc Thrower was pushed into the same chasm as the Dryad had been previously by an Elf Lineman in an act of retaliation, but the Jade wizards managed to save him, so he was merely temporarily lost in space.

Image

Towards the end, the ball was in the possession of a pair of Orc Blockers. Trying to pass the ball to an Orc Blitzer failed, and an Elf Lineman got hold of it. After an intense battle, the Lineman handed the ball to the Sorcerer, who passed the ball to an Elf Blitzer, who ran in to score and win the game.

Image

After the game, the Destroyers invested in extra training and got a new Team Re-roll, and the Comets simply had to replace the Dryad Runner that had been lost in the chasm.

As far as I understood looking into their website, it's more like specially designed teams which defer from the Blood Bowl teams.

Yeah, for our specific league environment, we use a modified list of the races from Blood Bowl, combined in a variety of ways on special mixed race teams, where the races involved depend on the College that sponsors the team. It's a little complicated, but based on the original Dungeonbowl team creation rules. It's explained here: http://senshichamber.com/dungeonbowl/du ... index.html

I feel that Dungeonbowl has a lot of randomness at its core, so hardcore game balance is not a priority in the team building rules. It's more about what feels like it makes sense. One example of this is the Lizardmen as a race. The DB:AGE rules are such that instead of player numbers (0-4, 0-2 and so on), players are either linemen or specialists. Linemen are always 0-16 and specialists are always 0-2. This just seemed to work well, except for Lizardmen, where I kept the original Skink/Saurus positions, but couldn't decide whether Saurus should be linemen or specialists. I ended up making them linemen (making the lizards the only race with two types of linemen), but upping their cost to 90k to make it harder to spam them too much.

And of course DB can be played just fine with normal BB teams if the players prefer.
