Vallejo painting question

Post by PercyTheTroll »

I'm currently painting my khemri team and I'm aiming for a jar green colour. I've base coated with Vallejo game colour Jade Green, shaded with shaded with athonian camoshade and layered back with jade green.

I'm thinking of buying a highlight colour but I'm not sure what to pick, ideally from the Vallejo range. Any suggestions?

Generic answer would be to add a little white to the mix (sorry, no Vallejo knowledge)

Do you have an image example of the colour you want to achieve?

I don't really trust myself to accurately mix paint over 16 models! I'm after a sort of jade/sage/turquoise colour. They're currently a bit darker than I was aiming for.

There is a light and dark turquoise colour which might work, for the very edges I would try a blue/grey colour.

Foul Green is the lighter colour for Jade Green - but you'll use so little of it to highlight the team it's probably not worth it. If you make a quick wet palette you can easily do a mix of the Jade Green with white and it'll keep it fresh for painting the whole team with.

I haven't painted in a while but if you are insecure about mixing, you can always refer to this color chart and pick the right one.

(Converting the numbers to a name shouldn't be to hard.)

That chart and names are for Model Color (triads for VMC), but he started with Game Color. Viscosity is different (VGC Heavies are like VMC, but all other VGC are thinner) and GC tends to be more vivid, while MC more natural or "camo". Some people is picky about the differences.

This chart suggests Livery Green 33 over Jade Green 26. But it could be a bit too greeny.

If you go here:

https://www.vallejo-farben.de/downloadlist.html

you find a downloadable list

Vallejo Prospekt Game Color (not linkable for me)

with Vallejo colors, their counterparts from GW and others and also a suggestion of colours for shade/base/highlight. Referring to this list then Livery Green (72.033) is the highlight colour and Scurvy Green (72.027) is the shade colour.

Whoops, obviously linked the wrong image then.
I have the full Vallejo set right here, so I know it's gotta be game Color.
My bad, I'm sorry.

Oh, so the picture I found is the official thing, but as photo of real paints.
