Connexion's teams and miscellaneous miniature painting

Thanks!

For my next trick (Nurgle), I have a huge terror grub, a few Maggotmen, a few cultists, some rotting zombies and a free gribblies (maggots, leeches and larvae). ;)

To be honest I'm a bit afraid to start because half the models are resin so, if anything goes wrong with painting, there isn't much (if any!) turning back.

If you still have the casting blocks around, paint them and try alcohol (and other stripping agents). If you only use acrylics, it should work.

Yep! Pure alcohol, a couple of hours of soaking and an old toothbrush works like a charm, even on plastics or resin.
Maybe a toothpick to get the paint out of very deep corners.

Thanks for the sugestions, Steam Ball & Regash. I'll do a few tests before the brushes get to work...

In the meantime, I wrapped this one up tonight: Oni-ni-kanabō!

Total improvisation on the freehand and, after photographing, I notice that the main branch/trunk of the cherry tree would look better if it was more twisted and starting in the middle of the bottom of the kimono (instead of starting on the left). Oh, well... What's done, is done!

Coming up next... Troll? Eldar on Cold One? The much mentioned Nurgle team?

Project list for 2016:
- Another BB team [definitely Nurgle, resin models cleaned and assembled]
- RoC Slaanesh warband [assembled]
- Converted Eldar riding Cold One [20%]
- Dark Eldar Archon on hoverboard [10%]
- Lord Skrolk [stripped]
- Willy Miniatures hungry troll [assembled!]

2016 concluded projects:
- Otherworld Oni/Ogre Mage
- Goblin Guild goblin referee
- Citadel classic vintage Jerry Cornelius by Jes Goodwin
- Otherworld Skirmish warband (1 satyr, 1 owlbear, 1 werewolf, 1 sylph, 1 wraith, 1 treant, 3 harpies, 8 wolves)
- Citadel classic/vintage Dark Elf wizard on foot
- Kermit's Komets, Slann team (markers & display tray finishing touches)
- Citadel classic Dark Elf wizard on Cold One
- Female dwarf team (6 blockers)
- Galactic Bastard limited edition mini
- Citadel classic/vintage Elric of Imrryr miniature by Jes Goodwin
- Hasslefree Pirate "Patrice"
- Orc From Bilbao BB referee "Joker"
- Citadel classic/vintage Corum Jhaelen Irsei miniature by Jes Goodwin (this was my December "vignette" display project)

Excellent stuff! Really good work, this is a lovely piece, rethink of branch or not :)

Loving the sound of the eldar on cold one too - back when I collected 40k I loved the ideas of the pirates and exodites, particularly the dragon knights. At one point I bought some dark elf cold ones for the purpose (those comedic metal ones of the nineties), and go heavy on scouts and warp spiders, and light on psychers, for the force itself. It never happened, but perhaps explains why I'm keen to see where you go with that project :D

Getting a bit frustrated with my current w.i.p. "rainbow hungry troll" from Willy Miniatures so I picked this one up for a quick detox: a penanggalan from Otherworld to accompany the Oni from a few days ago. Not too shabby for a 1-hour paint job, I hope... Cheers! :drunk:

- Willy Miniatures hungry troll [80%]
- Another BB team [definitely Nurgle, resin models cleaned and assembled]

- Dark Eldar Archon on hoverboard [10%]
- Lord Skrolk [stripped]

The exclusive "Hungry Troll" from Willy Miniatures with special thanks to Bill Rowbotham over at the Bazaar of Crooked Wonders FB group for his technical tips which were most useful. No thanks to Vallejo (or myself) for the "#$%"#$ thinner medium which, used for a final wash, fogged up after drying and pretty much ruined the paint job to the point I just wanted to wrap the damned thing up and quality be damned or throw it out the window... And, yes, that's chopped up human hair on his noggin'! :)

I have this owlbear and use it as a "counts as" troll for my Hobgoblin team, as designed by Laughing Ferret. It is a great model.
