THAT is an amazing pitch!! Super-props to you! I love pitches with levels.. they do so much visually.

Thank you all for the kind words on the Skaven pitch. That at least shows me that I am on the right track. It took a lot of thinking and some courage to add the end zone markings the way I eventually decided to. I'm still adding small details and small amounts of paint to the pitch all the time, but progress is slow and it's not that easy to discern the changes.

I'm not sure if I am stalling the inevitable here. Pouring the acrylic water mass (or mess depending on how much of a success or failure that is going to be)

Acrylic? Not polyurethane or epoxy?

I went for Epoxy after an initial test run

We have a little progress to show

One, my girlfriend provided THE idea for the typography on the score counters. Something I could not figure out at the time.

Image

I also built the turn counters

Image

Turn counters need to dry and then need some paint

The board as it sits there with score and turn counters

Image

And some details

(I hid 3 rats in the field, but they also still require paint)

Next up, I need to place those logs in the ground and hang some lengths of chain between them to seperate the dugouts

Image

In anticipation of J-Bones Slann team we also started on a Slann themed pitch. Still a very early WIP

I ordered a bunch of manhole covers to create re-roll tokens. Have also found and ordered suitable chain to continue work on the dugouts, but today we started pouring the water.

The first layer is in now. I leave a week between layers to make sure each layer cures and hardens completely. Each layer is 1mm deep. That kind of obliterates the original plan and timeframe, but I should have plenty of time to finish the project before the underground cup kicks off.

Indeed. Right now we're looking at the 24th and 25th of September, so plenty of time.

Looking great btw!

Thnx. The surface is not so smooth looking right now, and while drying it will crimp and become even more uneven, but after about 4-5 layers the top surface should be smooth like a mirror

I keep coming back to look at it! So pretty! What do you use to dent the Slann field tiles with? I would love to make a tiled all-round field for use with various teams.

My girlfriend used a big piece of stone to make some of the dents. She also jumped up and down on the field to make some bigger and deeper dents. Now that the general shape is clear and the deeper (pond) areas are sorted out she uses a scalpel to shape each individual tile.

When the tiles are shaped we will glue very fine sand on the complete surface, then apply paint.

When everything is painted we will liberally glue green flock and static grass to the tiles and in between the tiles, and when all of that is done we will fill the recessed areas with more of the clear resin to create the suggestion of an almost, but not quite submerged field/courtyard.

What Slann pitch?

BTW, most of the images in first pages are dead.

The Slann pitch is a very early WIP and I only posted a single picture so far showing not much.

Thanks for the heads-up on the older links. I was told there were some problems viewing photos linked from facebook so I started hosting the pictures on flickr instead. There should be no more problems with newer pictures :)
