All,

I'm on the lookout for a good but affordable lightbox to take pictures of my miniatures. Nothing too big or too fancy, I'm no professional :) . Does anybody know where (probably on the web) I can find such a thing?

(and no, I don't want to make one myself 8) )

thanks!

A mate got from called a "Foldio" from Orange Monkey (if I've remembered the names correctly).
I'll try to find a link later (off out in a bit).

Foldio is the box you have seen at my place. If you want you can use it at turncoat.

I own a small $10 lightbox that I purchased on ebay (Chinese manufacturer) and it works just fine. Looking back I just wish I had ordered abigger one, because, even though miniatures are not that big, fitting a backdrop in the smaller lightboxes can be really limiting.

The one I picked up is this one:

The size problem eliminated itself pretty much after I bought some additional studio equipment. My current "lightbox" is livingroom sized with backdrop system, light stands with remote controlled lights, softboxes and umbrellas. The works.

At the moment I use this backdrop. These are not miniatures, but the picture illustrates what I'm talking about a bit.

What I used there was a Neewer 9ft backdrop system supporting a 4'x4' rusty sheet of metal, 2 remote flash units on light stands bounced off the wall and ceiling and sheet of glass on a black cloth used as support.

A lot more fun then a lightbox, but quite a bit more expensive, and it takes away more space.

Top marks for the foldio if you can find it.

I also recommend the foldio although I would splurge and get the one with two light strips instead of one

You don't need a light box
You can use a black card board and a lamp and have good photos
Or you can use a backgroung downloadable here

I got a cheap collapsible Cowbow Studio light box from Amazon. It came with 2 halogen lights and a tripod and several colored backdrops. I haven't used it much yet but thus far I"ve been impressed by the portability.

A friend of mine made his own with a cardboard box and some stiff poster board.
