Red Reavers - Dark Elves

Post by jollyork »

The Spike! Tournament got me motivated to paint my first models in quite some time.

Here's what the player cards look like in the new 2016 edition, so I decide to try to emulate them:

Here is what I made:

What a horrible paint job. Absolutely disgusted with what you have done there. Disgraceful. Waste of paint.......

Are all things not to be said about the above work :)

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Witches and runners are modern dark elves from WHFB, the assassins and linelfs are mandrakes from the Dark Eldar range and the blitzers are Incubi from Dark eldar too. The apo is the current blood cauldron.

Thanks, everyone! chopa is correct, the Blitzers and Linmen are from 40K. The Witch Elves, Runners, and Apothecary are all from one WFB kit: the Cauldron of Blood. Heck of a deal!

The Spike! Tournament is this weekend, which will be their first time on the pitch. I hope they don't have rookie jitters!

The pictures don't do this team justice. This was my favorite team at Spike this year, but the caliber of teams at Spike was incredibly high. this team was runner up for best painted.

Thanks, guys! I had an awesome time at Spike! after a 2-year absence. I got a lot of nice compliments on the team and I am very pleased with how it did in the face of so much strong competition this year. Everyone brought amazing models!

Thanks, Dino. I am a casual tinkerer with Photoshop and used that to approximate what I saw in the preview photos for the new edition:

There is a much better image of the Star Player cards, but notice they have a slightly different layout than normal player cards, such as illustrated art and more text:

I should also note that I work with a guy who is a PS wizard and he helped me with stuff like blending layers to add textures. I took all his crafty knowledge and applied my subpar photography skills of my models!
