Size comparisons of new BB minis to 3rd Edition

Now, back to those nifty new plastic skavens and how to fit them on normal, 25 mm, bases :D

Should be very achievable, unlike the orcs or humans - who are definitely scaled up significantly:

So it will be interesting to see the scale shift from team to team...

Thanks for those pics, I haven't had a chance to break out my old minis and compare sizes yet. I had thought about moving the Orcs and Humans to 25mm bases. After lining them up however, it looks like I'd have to trim the base tab that gets slotted. Not the worst thing, but I also noticed that all of the Orcs would have their feet hanging off the base. So I guess I'm going to stick to the 30mm base anyway. That does make me wonder what size the big-guys are going to be though and will they need an even larger base? If that's the case, then we're right back to crowded boards. Maybe I'll try out a game or two before actually gluing down the bases to see what I think.

According to the pics, it looks like the Skaven are the same size as the original minis. That's surprising to me. I don't know GW lore that well, so I don't know if Skaven are actually supposed to be that small or not. It seemed to me they were around human size, maybe a little shorter? Again, if the Orcs and Humans have expanded in size, what are Ogres and Trees going to look like?

It's silly, but I'm even more curious about new mini releases than any rules proposals. Especially what the Undead (one of my fav teams) is going to look like.

Thanks for this, Babs!

I compared the old ones and the newer ones side-by-side, without a base and indeed (oh joy! :D) the new ones arent really bigger than the old ones (3rd edition). The difference between 2nd and 3rd is already significant though. No need to get into that.

I'll probably add 2 metal gutter runners to the team, hope to get a boosterpack or something for them, sometime. Hope that it will include a (not too big) Ratogre too.
So, 2 gutterrunners and a ROgre. 10 € seems reasonable... it's 25 € for the current box. If they continue that, I might add (even) more teams to my collection. Are you reading this, GW? Andy? Anyone..? :)

I seem to remember reading that expansion packs for the boxed teams are being supplied through FW in resin. If that is the case then I suspect we are looking at more than 10 euros. The two refs are on pre-order at £15 (not sure on the euro price but I'm guessing very similar) so in that case I wouldn't be surprised to see resin expansion packs only slightly cheaper than the box of 12...

Too bad, I'd rather have them in plastic. Easier glueing/converting/swapping parts... :-?

Thanks for that Babs - I was already sorely tempted by the Rats, but seeing them side-by-side with the 3rd ed ones sales me on them.
Can you share these pics (or can I) on the Facebook BB group? See a few people ask this question.

Though I'd still need to do something with the tails - how does GW plastic react to the "heat & bend" technique (I can't imagine it would be a problem, but...)?

I already had two snapped tails from shipping. I previously asked the same heat and bend question too. If I get the time, I'm going to give it a try, but it might be a week or two.

Thanks for sharing the pics!
Skaven scale looks spot on when compared to previous editions.

Unfortunately orcs and humans seem to be noticeably bigger then before.
And its funny that while I kind of feel ok with the scale creep for the orcs (still too much armour everywhere IMO), I don't really like the humans to almost dwarf their elder generations.
So much for making teams with mixed ed. human minis.

Fingers crossed they keep on the path of the skaven, scale wise.

Cheers,
A.

I think the new humans look ugly in general, and I used to be a staunch anti size creeper, BUT when I made my high elf team I realised how much bigger ALL GW minis are now, and the only minis I have that are the small scale, are my norse and old box set teams.
I just bought the dwarf team. They are gorgeous and only cost 29$! I'm gonna stick'em on 25 mm bases though, because I only have 2 old fields.

If I would field those new humans with an old 1st edition Ogre then the Ogre should be easily recognisable. It would be the smallest player on the field.
