I want your thoughts...

Post by Norse »

A few weeks back, I asked Lucy how he thought I should paint my Skaven. I gave him a few choices and he chose Black and Yellow. I wasn't sure at first, but I'm very pleased with the result and am keen to take more advice from other gamers:

http://www.tbbf.org/gallery.asp

I'm about to embark upon a Lizardman team and would like some ideas for skin/scale/crest colour...

Please pick what you think would be the most interesting colour combo from the list or give me some other ideas. It will be at least 2 weeks before I start, so there's plenty of time to give me your thoughts...

Whichever post gets the most votes is how I will paint my team, I promise, so please don't suggest pink and gold, as I don't want to nitromors my guys after I paint them...

Once they are painted they will be photoed and put on display here abouts...

I've painted mine Bad Moon Yellow and green "Tiger" spots - the back crests are bright red. A bit different but I feel lizards should be yellow / green! Added a photo - not great I know - but just to give you an idea!

Norse got a WD 206??
Lots of pics from WHFB.
Personally I think green is too Goblin/Orcy, I'd go hawk turquoise or purple.

Purple sounds like a good choice to me. Green would be rather gobbo
How about chameleon colours. So red for the (you stepped in my territorium) big ones, green brown for the (we don't want to be spotted) little ones. All colours for the (we definetely want sex now) Krox.

I am having mine painted red with black markings. Of course, since I'm not doing it, they are turning out pretty good. I have a pic of the Krox, which I think looks pretty sweet, but have no idea how to post it. I'm still in the dark ages and don't have a website. I'd be happy to email the pic to someone more skilled than I.

Oh...I just had a great idea: Green Krox (blocker), Red Saurii (Blitzers...sort of), yellow Skinks (Catchers).....

as per the old 2nd ed. ring system...

I voted for the green, but it is a little orcy....red was my second choice...or black migt be fun if you're clever with the highlights.

OK, prepare for some blathering...I just got back from the pub... :D

Fluff says that colour is defined by the spawning, which is why different regiments in WFB are different colours....I'd be tempted to go with a real mix n match...loads of different vibrant colours would look really cool IMO...
Anyway, another poorly defined pic from my cheap n nasty scanner to look at..

Norse, if you can't lay your hands on a WD206 I'll mail it over and pick it up in July...

I've long wanted to run a Lizardman team that was colored like that. But I want to take it to the next level and choose appropriate skills based on the colors :)

Thanks for the ideas guys, sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I am in France a ce moment!

I'm coming round to the idea of different patterns for the different species, I want it to be complicated, but not so hard it takes 8 hours per model.. :o

How about really dark red for the krox, medium red for the saurus and an orange-red for the skinks.... with splotches of other colours for variation? Or do you think the bright should be the krox and dark the skinks??

Thanx for the scans DW, I'll look out my WD206 when I get home. I just could not remember which WD I needed to look at.. I'm with Longfang though, I think I'll wear my shades 8) before I open the page...

I say you should go with Blue and Green scales. I think that would rule.

I agree Neo, but my wood elves wear blue and green, so I want some variety:

Orcs (Blue and Yellow)
Norse (Blue)
Undead (Purple - actually, very like DW's!)
Dwarves (Green and White)
Snots (Red and White - Ajax strip for those who care...)
Wood Elves (Blue and Green)
Skaven (Black and Yellow)
Chaos Dwarves (Purple, but will be re-painted one day....)

So I need to find another interesting colour scheme. I need more red teams, so I think predominantly red with other colours mixed in.. still surfing Gecko sites looking for inspiration... :?:
