Orc Team Conversion

Post by Prowler »

Lately i've been thinking about converting a few Warhammer Orcs into a BB team. The thing is, i got zero experiance with converting so i'm pretty much clueless. I've been checking out the WH4K Ork 'Ard Boyz, and they look mighty fine.
http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront ... orignav=10

Judging from the picture, they look fairly easy to convert into a BB team. Just some weapon choppin' and they're ready to go. (Or so it seems...)But i'd like an experts oppinion on this. Someone who's used to converting figs and know how the 'Ard Boyz look up close. I need to know if there are some possible problems. Stuff that are hard to convert, unrealsitic future gadgets that doesn't fit in, ect. (Since i must order the all the parts, i'd be nice if i could get everything in one take.)

At first, i thought about getting the regular Orch Boyz from Fantasy Battle, and convert them. But it looks as if they hardly wear any armor at all, which i think is a shame. I'm looking for the big shoulder pads look, and i want my blitzers to have the huge metal jaw.

So if anyone got experiance with Orc conversions, please give me some pointers to lead me in the right direction.
Thanks alot. :)

Actually, it's called "The Road To Gory Glory". Naughty Indigo messed the title up ;)

As a matter of fact, just get yourself a box of Orkz for the Linemen and order some Ard Boy bodies and shoulderplates for the blitzers - it's a lot cheaper and helps seperate the linemen from the real men 8)

Hey Prowler...if you're ever in my part of Sweden (Uppsala) I'll show you the team I made using those models...sorta similar to Norse's just not as well executed.

They're absolutely fantastic to use as an orc team. Tricky to paint though, as the detail in places on the figs isn't great.

Yeah... The plastic fantasy Orcs sometimes have dodgy detailing. I had no problems with the 40K Ork boyz however.

I know, i haven't been around much latly. Infact, i haven't been playing Blood Bowl at all. I got the will, but it's kinda hard to keep the intrest up when there are almost no other BB players in my area. This conversion is mostly because of the painting, i really miss that. Doubt they will have much field time. :(
Anyway, it's nice to know that some people actually remember me. :)

And 'bout Norses Orch team...man that is one stunning team, especially the 5th one. Sweet helmet/jaw combination there. Great pics, thanks for posting them. They will help alot.
One question though, the spiky shoulder pads, they're the same ones from the 'Ard Boyz pack right?

The 'Ard Boyz even come with some bullet-riddled shoulder pads (any Dwarven Handgunners in the crowd? :D)

.... if you want to do a conversion team the hard way and not to be a soft plastic bender :D , check my site for my converted METAL orc Team  (section "BB Orcteam GD2003" on my site)

No offence, Norse or squiggoth ! But after reading the Streetbowl rules today ( thanks again, Norse) while driving at work ( ... with a bus !) i will convert some plastics orc myself into a StreetBowl orc team and build a streetbowlpitch next year.No support stuff, just 11 players.... hey, thats easy   Maybe i will get it ready until Dutch Open ?
