My Sad story, that has questions.

A forum for football mini's talk.......painting, converting etc. etc. or showing off great accessories that make playing the game easier, cooler or more fun.

his brother isn't the problem..it's the guy that keeps ripping him off. I want to beat the crap outta him for u :) Is there no way to get back at him?

Also those battletech minis are probably worth a pretty penny on ebay...about $20 a piece or more if they are the old ones.

I have to suggest that you ignore the reccomendations for GW paints or Vallejo paints (as much as I love the guy's work) and just go to your local craft store and buy regular acrylic paint. It's the same damn stuff. As much as GW would want you to think that they (or any other company) has developed some special formula, it's all crap. Acrylic paint is acrylic paint is acrylic paint. Look at your local Hobby Lobby, Ben Franklin's, Michael's or whatever and get the paint that comes in the 2 oz. bottles.
Prices range from .50 cents to around $2.00.

Compare that to $2.00 for 1oz from specialist paints and you'll see the difference. I just bought 18 2oz bottles for just under $9. That amount of paint from GW would have been near $80! (because I bought 3 bottles of metallics)

The paints are the exact same stuff (trust me I'm an art student) and the bottles come with a top that can squeeze the paint out or unscrew to our it out. Not only that but it won't dry out in 2 months like GW paints will.

The only ONLY ONLY drawback is that the colors have some fruity names. Lilac white or Green Apple green doesn't sound as cool as Skull White or Snot Green but who cares?

This mini was painted with plain acrylics. The photo sucks because I don't have decent scanner or camera. There's actually more highlights on him than the scanner picked up.

Yeah with names like Taffeta Pink, Dusty Peach, Riveria tan, and Island Blue by the time you get to Navy Blue you just gotta wonder.

As for flesh tones...well I don't know if this will help but I use (depending on the race and team etc.) Dusty Peach mixed with a little bit of brown or orange, then a wash of brown, then straight Dusty Peach and progressively lighter highlights with Riveria Tan.

Then I go watch Football to feel manly again.

I think that Skull White and Chaos Black are kind of corny names, I'd gladly use Taffeta Pink!
As for the skin tones, the flesh wash is a bit light to use as a wash on its own i think, but is good for mixing into the bronzed flesh or bleached bone for subtle shading. Flesh wash mixed with a dot of brown or chestnut works fine for washing gristled, battered blood bowl players, if you ask me!

Uh...should I be offended?

A bit rude. :o

I added some more with better lighting so you won't have to be so rude next time.

ack, i did not mean to seem offensive, just saying that the rock, ground beneath the dragon well in a way... looked like poo.

sorry, i did not mean it to be rude. :(

I should just shut up before i dig myself any deeper

I do love the colors on the dragon though. I am sure my humor would have made much more sense if I had told you in real life. :)

OH! Heh heh heh!

I see. No problem then.

I wondered about that cuz it seemed a little out of character to just say, "You suck!"

No problem. lol And yeah, I guess it does look like a pile of crap.
