Timing Armour/injury roll vs bouncing ball

Post by Dr. Von Richten »

Just thought of a case of possible unclarity: Is there a specified time at which the armour/injury roll of a downed player is rolled vis-a-vis the time at which the scatter of a bouncing ball is rolled?

Imagine the following situation: player with ball goes down (whether from a block, GFI, falied Dodge or anything else does not matter), ball bounces into adjacent square that is occupied by another player, said player does not catch the ball, ball bounces into square of downed player. If downed player is still on the pitch, the ball scatters once more. But if downed player's armour was broken and he is KO'ed/Cas'd, then the ball would come to rest in his (former) square.

So it matters whether the armour/injury roll is made first (thus possibly removing the player form the field) or is made after the ball is bounced. I can't find anything definitive in the rules about this situation.

Everyone I know plays AV before bounce, but I can't remember why we play it that way.

Cos it says so on page 11;
If a player carrying the ball is Knocked Down or Placed Prone,
he will drop the ball in the square where he falls. The dropped
ball will bounce one square in a random direction (see Bouncing
Balls, page 13) after the player"s armour and injury rolls (if any)
are fully resolved.
