GFI and Block?
We had some posts here regarding when to roll the GFI in the sequence of play and it was said that a GFI is always rolled after the dodge or the leap or whatever it is used for.
This Thread for example.
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=36034
What if the Action the GFI is used to is a blitz action. Does the Block have to be rolled before the GFI? And what happens if the Block works (Defender Down) - and the GFI-roll is a 1. - Will the Block still be resolved?
Just came into my mind yesterday and didnt find a suffice answer. Probably it is like everyone is doing it (first GFI then block) - right?
This Thread for example.

Re: GFI and Block?
The dodge is rolled to leave the initial square;
The GFI is then rolled before the block dice (from the rules: "Roll D6 for the player after he has moved each extra square").
Having moved into the square, the player is now adjacent to a target, who then can blitz so block dice are rolled last.

Re: GFI and Block?
I dont really understand the question.
Also for me there is no commen understanding what to roll first.
[EDIT for clarification: i am Talking Here about order of gfi and Dodge only!]
I don't see this anywhere in the rules
A gfi or the dodge/leap.
It does not matter anyway
Either way the player is knocked down in the field he wanted to go to.
So who cares, as long as both players are clear what is currently rolled.
I for example always roll gfi before the dodge/leap and actually all my opponents I can think of do it the same.
Gfi and block is another thing.
Here this does not only affect your player but potentially also other players.
So to me it is so crystal clear that gfi has to be rolled first, I wouldn't even have thought about this questions.
In the end you answered it yourself, from my perspective.
Cheers

Re: GFI and Block?
So declare block, roll GFI (= not enough MA, all spent before), and if still standing, roll block.Page 20 wrote:A player that is taking a Blitz Action may ‘go for it’ in order to make a block. Roll a D6 for the player after declaring that he will make the block. On a roll of 1 the player is Knocked Down as described above. On any other roll the player makes the block without mishap. If the player is Knocked Down then his team suffers a turnover and the team’s turn ends immediately.

Re: GFI and Block?
True!
Overlooked diving tackle.
Thanks for pointing that out.
So besides what is common practise or not as referred to in the thread mentioned in first post.
Is this defined anywhere in the rules or clarification what has to be rolled first for that scenario?
Not checking the rules , since it is much more fun to be corrected / enlightened here
I still would roll gfi first (which gives benefit to the defender/diving tackler).

Re: GFI and Block?
I believe the rules are clear on this. The wording is:
The dodge is rolled to leave the initial square (i.e. even though you fall over in the target square, you roll before you leave your initial square).
The GFI is then rolled after having moved the square dice (from the rules: "Roll D6 for the player after he has moved each extra square").
So you are in Square A. You want to dodge GFI to square B.
You roll the dodge to leave square A. If you succeed you are now in square B and have moved the extra square so you roll GFI.
