Special Play Cards - Negatraits in effect?

Post by Saebelsultan »

During a league game yesterday arose the question, if Negatraits from Big Guys (or any other) also have to be considered using the Cards. We couldn't find anything in the rulebook regarding that question (which doesn't mean it isn't in there...). Is there a definite rule for it or how do you handle this situation?

The Card in question was from the Dirty Tricks Decks: Chop Block. On the card it says:

"This card may only be played on one of your Standing players that
did not take an Action during your last turn. Your player is Placed
Prone and an opposing player in a square adjacent to him is now
considered Stunned.".

I decided to use my troll for that since he didn't do anything last turn. My Opponent now wanted me to roll for Really Stupid first to see if the troll would execute the Chop Block. I obviously argued against that. In the end we let fate decide (and the dice were in my favour).

Thanks for your help!

Really Stupid (and Bone Head, Wild Animal, and Blood Lust, have I missed any?) only need to be rolled when you declare an Action. Using Chop Block is not an Action, so no roll is needed.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

To add to this, Pass Block is a prime example of where you dont have to roll as you are not taking an Action. There are others.

Add to this. If a player is ever lucky enough to get Bone-Head and Blood-lust simultaneously (long story):

In what order are they rolled?
If bone-head is rolled first and fails, do you still roll blood-lust?
If both fail and there's a thrall in contact, can it be bitten?

On a related note, would a player who lost their action (due to, say, Bonehead) count as not having taken an action on the last turn? That is, Bonehead on turn 3, Chop Block on turn 4? They tried to act, but it didn't happen... what would it count as for purposes of the card?

We had that one come up just last week. (Street Bowl potion.)

I ruled that Bonehead should come first and that failing Bonehead would end his Action immediately, before rolling for Bloodlust.

You try Pass Block with a Vamp on Cyanide. They need to roll Blood Lust. But strangely dont need to bite until the end of their own turn :D

I'm okay with that. Bonehead cancels the action and Blood Lust does not ... so I think allowing the skill that negates the action to be first in the chain makes a lot of sense.

Good stuff. When it came up for us we played it that both had to be rolled and if both failed, he could only bite a thrall in base contact. The reasoning being that both negatraits must immediately be rolled after the action is declared (and since the action declaration triggers both simultaneously, rolling order doesn't matter, they're still both active). Biting was not considered an action (for B-H), so it was allowed, but the Move action to take them there was not. Although thinking about it now, is biting part of the Move action, or after it?

Guidance wise, are we saying that negatrait orders are chosen by the active player's coach, and if you fail a negatrait roll that cancels (rather than replaces) an action you also cancel any further negatrait tests associated with that action?

The bite is part of the action (stated in the text of Blood Lust) so if Bonehead cancelled the action then Blood Lust would technically be not allowed to happen.
