Fireball : Mighty blow mandatory ?

Post by Budmilka »

Hi,

I have a question about Horatio and his Fireball.
The rules says you have to make an Armor Roll (and wound if able) for each player that is knocked down as if he had been knocked down by a player with the mighty blow skill.
If the Fireball hits standing players on both sides, who rolls both Armour ? Should it be the opposing coach of the targeted player ? The owner of Horatio ? If the latter, can the coach decide not to use Mighty Blow on his player ?

Is it the same as a Ball&Chain with Mighty Blow hitting a friendly player ? Can he also choose not to use Mighty Blow (even though he choose the block die) ?

Thank you

Mighty Blow is optional; you do not have to apply the +1 to AV roll, even from a fireball.

As for who rolls? I'd say the owner of the dangerous wizard or deranged looney should roll the dice and should be the one deciding to use skills or not.

TOs! You do not need multiple copies of rosters. It's a waste of paper.

Is it written somewhere ? I couldn't find anything in the LRB6 or the BB2016 about the rolls.

pg 11 LRB6...

INJURIES
Unless the rules state otherwise, any player that is Knocked
Down may be injured. The opposing coach rolls two D6 and
adds their scores together in an attempt to try to beat the
Knocked Down player’s Armour value. If the roll succeeds, then
the opposing coach is allowed to roll on the Injury table in the
next column to see what injury the player has suffered.

Well there you go; opponent of the downed player rolls, no matter how that player was Knocked Down.

OK.

About Mighty Blow, it is said "you" may add 1 to the Armour or Injury Roll. In that case, "you" is the owner of the skill or the one rolling the dice ?

As per what you wrote in your OP:
"The rules says you have to make an Armor Roll (and wound if able) for each player that is knocked down as if he had been knocked down by a player with the mighty blow skill."

As Loki pointed out, the opposing coach rolls the dice, and each player is considered to be knocked down by a (not 'the') MB player, so the opposing coach will decide whether to add the +1 or not.

In other words, all players knocked down by Horaitio will have MB used against them, unless the player rolling the dice decides otherwise.
