Olds Skool Player returning with daft question.....

Post by Snagar_Dogbreath »

Hello!

I'm recently getting re-acquainted with Blood Bowl after a substanial break (so forfive if some off this insults your intelligence) and as well as starting some new teams I'm trying to "adapt" an old legendary side to some of the rule changes that have taken place since I last played. (For example back-rolling" ageing rolls etc)

Anyway here is my daft question....

Big Guys and Star Players points. I'm sure when I used to play Rookie Big Buys as they were termed acquired star player points at half the usual pace. Ie My Rookie....sorry Big Guy Ogre has 33 SPP but had only made two star player rolls as 33/2 = 16.5 etc etc.

Now I cannot find any reference to this "slow learning" regarding big guys in the newer rules. So how do Big Guys work regarding Star Player points now?

Again apologises if an explanation is somewhere and I've missed it.

Muchos Gratious for anyhelp.

You've missed the explanation simply because there isn't any...that is, now Big Guys gain skills at the same pace of normal players. Your Ogre, for example, would have gained 3 skills (6,16,31).

Hope this was useful

Welcome back into the tunnel

:D Thanks for replying so swiftly

I did kinda guess that might be the case but thought I'd check it out here first.

So hmmm....do you think My Ogre deserves another skill roll then...since he would have had one by now

Cheers very much for the info... and keep your eyes peeled for more daft questions coming soon!

Infact here it comes now......

Star players don't count against your big guys do they.

So "technically" an Orc side could if they could afford and so desired (which I don't) could play....

Morg N Thorg - Star Player
Ripper Bolgrot - Star Player
+ Ogre Big guy

Likewise a Wood Elf team could play 2 treeman so long as one was Deeproot Strongbranch (Star Player) and the other was a standard big guy treeman?

????

Yep. That's correct.

Galak's Halflings (tournament team) start with 2 treemen/ogres and deeproot.

Hang on...

I thought Halfling teams could only have 2 big guys. (Period. Not including SPs) or is it two from each race????

I've been praticing for GenCon with a Halfling team and am currently 3 wins - 0 losses (all 3 wins were full 60 point tournament victories also).

The roster I use is:
Deeproot
2 Ogres
9 Halfling
1 Reroll
2 FF
1 Master Chef

So yes you are correct they can only have 2 Big Guys total.

Galak

One thing to remember Snagar...

Your Ogre advances at the same rate as a regular player, but he can never lose his negative trait even by rolling doubles. And he can no longer use Team Re-Rolls...

I think you'll find that it's a nice adjustment to the rules.

Except for Pro, Leader, and Trophy re-rolls. :D

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

Oops, obviously not as clear as I thought.

2 treemen or 2 ogres or 1 of each
