Ogre bonehead question

having a disagreement with one of the coaches in my league and thought this would be the best palce to turn to.

Does an ogre have to roll bonehead to catch a pass? What about an INT?

you have to roll for bonehead at the beginning of an action, so no you don't have to roll it for interceptions or catching a pass

the rules aren't however clear if he is still allowed to if he failed the previous bonehead roll, though as they don't say otherwise, i would say that you can still try for the intercept or catch

of course he could still fail the bonehead for his action after receiving a pass, assuming he hasn't taken an action before the pass

The rules are actually pretty clear on this. Bonehead affects only what it specifically says it affects. Failure results in loss of action and tacklezone. A TZ is not necessary to lend assists, to catch a ball, or a myriad of other items.

It may not seem very appropriate, fluff/makes sense-wise but the rule is definitely clear about what failing a Bonehead roll does.

i agree that bonehead does not need to be rolled to catch a ball. But if the ogre is Bonehead I think the BBRC should make it so he can't catch the ball

I agree that you do not have to make a bonehead roll to catch the ball.
But how do you interpret the line:

LRB ver 2 page 26
Bonehead:
"On a roll of 1 they stand around trying to
remember what it is they're meant to be doing. The
player can't do anything for the turn, and the
player's team loses the declared action for that
turn."

Am i to understand that an ogre may not try to catch the ball if he has taken an action this turn and failed his bonehead?

On the topic of the Bonehead...

Does failure to roll for the Bonehead count as an illegal procedure?

Failure to roll Bonehead is NOT an illegal procedure, you're just breaking the rules if you forget (allbeit unintentionally).

A lot of people play it this way though, to help jog forgetful players memorys so it seems to be a popular house rule.

Just remember though that this does not mean you get out of the bonehead roll if you do forget and it does not give you license to keep accidently 'forgetting' to roll if your opponent does not notice.

Players who do this will have very long beards and no friends
