Two Black Orcs needs advice on skills

Post by stashman »

I got skills with my two black orcs, and advices are welcome.

Black Orc 1
4429 Block, Guard, Mighty Blow, Regeneration (chaos cup)

Black Orc 2
44210 Block, Guard, Mighty Blow

I was thinking of:
Tackle to bring down blodgers
Stand Firm to be where you wan't them
Thick Skull to stay on the pitch

One oddly choice is kick-off return on one to have three on the widezone, where I usually go when offensive

Piling On to kick some butt!!!

I rolled normal rolls for both :(

I would go stand firm on one and tackle on the other. There always seems to be a st4 blodger out there to be dealt with but I think two may be overkill unless your league has a lot of those or a lot of elves. Stand Firm is a great skill and I'd love to have it on both of these if possible. The problem with kick-off return is that only one player can use it per kick-off and I'd want that on a thrower.

tackle is the solid choice for both. I would also consider stand firm on one. Honorable mentions to break tackle for positioning and frenzy for MOAR POWA!

Need the rest of the team and the races you play against/league format to make a proper recommendation. Tackle/PO/SF are the most obvious choices.

Ok, here is the rest of the boyz

Rookies: Blitzer, Goblin, Troll, 2 Lineman

Blitzer
7339 Fend, Side Step, Guard, Dodge

Blitzer
6339 Guard, Tackle

Black Orc
3429 Frenzy, Block, Stand Firm, Guard, Mighty Blow
Will probably leave the team. I'm trying to have 189 TV (or lower) just to go into a league division 149-189 TV and be strong team.

Black Orc
4429 Wrestle, Guard

Lineman
5339 Block, Kick, Dirty Player, Tackle, Diving Tackle, Regeneration

Lineman
Wrestle

Blitzer
5438 Guard, Tackle, Mighty Blow, Grab, NIGGLING
He will probably leave the team. Used to have another ST4 AV8 Niggled Blitzer, but missed to many games so he hade to leave.

Trying to have 189 TV with a Dungeonbowl Wizard.

Some really odd skill selections throughout the team, yet you have still won the Dungeonbowl and Chaos Cup.
I guess you are the best player in the league and it won't matter much what you take.
Maybe look at what team would be your biggest threat and take skills to counter that.
If it was on fumbbl or something I would take PO on both as you have some Tackle and no PO.
Also the new Blitzers can be skilled up with MB Tackle, which is a much better combo on a fast player.

We have many good players!!! We have played chaos cup, spike, dungeonbowl and bloodweiser over the years, so two trophys out of 16 isn't sooo goood.

You said something about missed games: are you using an old ruleset?

How's that Wrestle Blocker working out? Never heard that one before… the others aren't so bad. I'd cut the two hobbled guys for sure, rebuild as well as possible.

Tackle for both Blockers. MB/Tackle is central to the game these days. I think that's always been true, but now with the new Piling On and the "Rule of Five" it's even more true, as it's how you damage the gamebreakers. PO works also.

Guard is a good second skill for Blitzers. Tackle is a good second skill for Blitzers. But MB first, no matter which route you take. It's easy to fix on the Guard/Tackle guy, though: get him up to 31 and Guard/Tackle/MB isn't bad. Try to get the two rookies MB then Piling On, they'll go up faster and you'll win more.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

The wrestling blorc is cool and a great player when you wan't someone down.

ST4 makes the wrestle skill more usable in defence. Having him on LOS and the opponent rolls both down and push, after ganging up to get 2d block, it sometimes force opponent to reroll.

He has 29 spps so soon a third skill and I think I will get either stand firm or grab.

The sacked ST4 blitzer missed "alot" of games due to AV8 and Niggling. He was to expensive to be worth his salary. Also had MA5

I would go for both StandFirm. In order to have 3 Standfirm. I assumed at this TV there is some opponents would try some oneturn at turn 8 or 16.
with 3 standfirm on the los, it's over...

And grab could be nice. People are not used (yet?) to play against teams with many grab...

I would consider taking Tackle/Stand Firm or you could go Tackle/Grab.

The if you're blitzing alot with one of them then he should be the Tackler.

If you use them more as support pieces that hit than Stand Firm/Guard is great, it keeps you right in the thick of the fight and allows their teamates to utilze the Guard to its fullest.

Took Stand Firm on both blorcs and sacked the niggling blitzer and the limped blorc, just to go down in TV. So here is the team now:

Da Orcidas Boyz
Rerolls: 5 (Two Trophy, Chaos Cup and Dungeonbowl)
FF: 12
Cash: 630K (and a bonus Dungeobowl Wizard for 50K)

Blitzer: Rookie 0spp
Blitzer: Guard, Tackle 25spp
Blitzer: 7339, Guard, Side Step, Fend, Dodge107 spp

Blorc: Wrestle, Guard 28spp
Blorc: Block, Mighty Blow, Guard, Stand Firm, Regen 55spp
Blorc: 44210, Block, Mighty Blow, Guard, Stand Firm 77spp

Troll: Rookie 5spp

Goblin: Rookie 0spp

Lineman: Block, Kick, Dirty Player, Tackle, Diving Tackle, Regen 113spp
Lineman: Wrestle 8spp
Lineman: Rookie 4spp
Lineman: Rookie 0spp

Team feels solid and will play in a league with TV between 149-189.

After first game I will get a blitzer and a blorc.
