Tough matchup....

I've move onto the semifinals in my league and I face a tough match up with my Nurgle against a Chaos Dwarf team. Both teams lost their big guy last match.

First my team:

NW: Block, Guard, MB, Regular Skill
NW: Block, Dodge, Guard
NW: Block, Guard
NW: Block
Pest: Block, MB, Claw, Tackle, PO, -AV
Pest: +ST, Block, Dodge, Niggle
Pest: Block, Frenzy
Pest: Block
Rotter: DP
Rotter x4: Rookie
4 RR
TV 1810 once I take the skill

Chaos Dwarves:

BC: +ST, Block, MB, Guard
BC: Block, MB, Guard, Dodge
Dw: +ST, Guard, SF, MB
Dw: MB, Guard, SF, Claw, -AG
Dw: MB, Guard, Dodge, SF
Dw: MB, Claw, Guard
Dw: Guard, MB
DW: Guard
Hob: Block, Dodge, SH, Strip, KOR
Hob: Block, Kick, Guard
Hob: DP, Kick, Wrestle
Hob: DP
Hob: Rookie
3 RR
2140 TV

So right now there is a 330 TV difference. That could go to 480 if he hires a Mino. Though if I buy the Beast that will be 340.

Right now he out guards me 9 to 3. We have the same amount of MB/Claw if I take claw on the NW with a skill up...though I do have a PO piece. He has more DP then I do. I do have more strength.

Obviously spreading things out would tend to help me...but I'm nurgle...not elves.

Thoughts?

No break tackle on his centaurs. give em rotters to play with.
You need a beast.
Your warrior is begging for claw, particularly v all that av9
You outmuscle him which goes some way to negating guard.
I would tarpit him with beast n warriors (and rotters for the centaurs) and snipe off any vulnerable one with the clawbomber.
Oh and drop a re-roll, you don't need 4

swil - you have the option to take a Mercenary Beast with 1 skill (probably S-Firm is best) at a cost of 220,000.

If you drop a RR (I recommend you do), that would still leave you with 180,000 in further inducements. A Wizard suggests himself.

With no B-Tackle on the Bulls, they are easy to tie up, and the team as a whole lacks mobility (another reason I recommend the Merc Beast with S-Firm).

With only 12 players and a missing Dwarf, the CD roster is light, and you should gain a numbers advantage. Taking extra players as inducements is a way to re-inforce this advantage.

Your opponent is overly reliant on his best Hobgoblin - do target him. Another reason to take a Wizard.

The CD roster holds no terrors for me - I would expect a Nurgle win.

Hope that helps.

You say he got 9 Guards, yet I count only 8. Have I missed something? Or maybe you forgot to report a sixth Dwarf with Guard?

I agree with Heff and Smeborg, with a difference: lacking Sure Hands or Ag4, I understand the presence of a fourth RR. That said, if you feel that game is really tight, Smeborg inducement plan is convincing: a Wizard is probably better than that RR.

You can get a merc beast and a wiz - no need to drop a RR for SF.
This is only a tough match if he is a much better coach or he gets lucky, u have clawpomb and ST advantage.

Indeed I did - and the dwarf I forgot to report is ST4.

I try not to overestimate the CLPOMBER...he's had a slough of games where he has done nothing of note - on the season (11 games) 54 armor breaks for 12 CAS, and my opponent has plenty of DP.

Note also I have only one tackle player.

Oh, and I have plenty of cash, so I will buy a replace BoN...so my TV is essentially 1950.

So it looks like my choices for inducements if he doesn't get a mino are (base difference 350TV):

1) Wizard, rookie BoN, Rookie Rotter (15 players!)
2) Cut a rookie Rotter, Wizard, Merc BoN with Guard (13 players)
3) Merc BoN with Guard, Bribe (14 players)
4) Borak (14 players)
5) Grashnak (14 players)

If he does pick up a Mino I have more options (base difference 500 TV):

1) Wizard, rookie BoN, Cut a Rookie rotter, Merc Rotter with DP, Bribe (14 players)
2) Wizard, rookie BoN, Bribe x 2 (14 players)
3) Wizard, Borak, Babe (14 players)
4) Wizard, Grashnak (14 players)
5) Wizard, Merc BoN with Guard, Bribe (14 players)

And of course I am sure there are other options!

1-0 win for the Nurgle.

For my pregame I dropped a rotter to get to 370 TV difference, and then induced a guard BoN and took the wizard. The former did ok going 9/12 on 2+ really stupids but getting in the way nicely. The wizard helped me stop him from scoring but probably wasn't decisive. He received in the first half and didn't score. I scored on T16.
