Superbowl time: Undead VS Orcs- advice

Post by TheDoc »

Right Sports Fans and Coaches,

It's superbowl time at HDWSBBL. My undead (http://www.hdwsbbl.co.uk/teams/arkhan-b ... rs/roster/ vs Orcs (http://www.hdwsbbl.co.uk/teams/black-mo ... ws/roster/).

Each team has only been beaten once this season and have 2 trophies to their names but this is the big one!

If you were me (Undead) how would you go about beating this green Waaaaaaghhhh horde?

Buy a Wiz from petty cash and win. The Black Orc with Guard should be 100k btw - only double skills add extra tv, not double rolls.

It will be hard to out-muscle him, though you have enough guard to locally control areas.... He has eschewed tackle, so your ghouls will definitely win or lose it for you.... Perhaps another reroll to hedge your bets, maybe a cl and ac or two to control the kick off rerolls, definitely the wizard to turnover (you will definitely need a turnover as, if you get 2 up on him, the game is likely over)....

He only has 11 players so anyone you can get off the pitch is a bonus. Don't rely on causing damage as that is up to the dice, but be ready to take advantage of it. You have subs, so some fouls on his good blitzers would be worthwhile late in the half.

On defence he'll have to devote a lot of players to the cage so you can try to tie up black orcs with fodder 1 on 1 and then attack it with mummies and your wights and ghouls.

On offence you are more mobile and can quickly re-position if you have to. Switching flanks if the route to the endzone is cut off. A wizard would be very good against Orcs. Try to keep it is reserve as it is a great psychological weapon, but equally don't save it all game in the hope of the perfect time.

As the others said, buy a Wizard with petty cash.

With just three guards to your two he's not as strong as it can be expected, but watch out for all that +ag: in a pinch, he's more able than usual for orcs at pulling some fast play

Just to say guys thanks for the advice. It worked I won our Superbowl for the first time! It was a good match which the undead worked well. I did have the wizard but didn't need him. :)

Yes at the HDWSBBL I have a resident coach called Dr Viktor Nekromortis (which unsurprisingly gets shortened to "The Doc" to fit my NAF name) and he began life as a Necromantic coach for a season and were runners up for the superbowl, then I had two seasons of Vampire (one as runner up again - the other I lost to Purplegoo in the semis), and this year Undead. :D

The theme of the undead teams especially Necro and vampire is so good I couldn't not enjoy playing them.

Next season is our league's 10th anniversary season and we are encouraged to use our 1st league teams again. This means the Necromantic "Universal Horrors" will be back for a 2nd season. We will also have at least another 1 Necro team possibly 2 coming back. We are very Undead friendly :)
