3 Skills for Brets

Post by plasmoid »

Hi all,
my Bretonnian team is having a rather excellent season.
They're facing Amazons next in what might as well be the semi finals (around TV1900), and I they win or tie that one, then it is on to the finals against a Dwarf team (TV 2040) which has brutalized me before.
Tall order!

Anyway, here is my team. I have 3 skills coming up. Any advice would be appriciated.
Might also get a skill from the MVP - it's play by email, so I don't know yet.

Team now looks like this:
1. Blitzer: Tackle + SKILL
2. Blitzer: Leader + Mighty Blow
3. Blitzer: ST+, Frenzy, Tackle
4. Blitzer: MA+, Dodge, Pro + SKILL
5. Yeoman: - (5 SPPs)
6. Yeoman: Guard
7. Yeoman: AG+, Sure Hands, SKILL
8. Yeoman: Guard

11. Lineman: Wrestle
12. Lineman: -
13: Lineman: SG + DP
14. Lineman (reserve to be fired)
15: Lineman: Wrestle
16: Lineman: Block (-1MA)
2 ReRolls, Apo, FF7, TV 1650 (after #14 is fired)

Anyway, for the Yeoman I'm thinking Strong Arm. His passing is rather important to my offense.
No idea what to give my #1. Don't bother telling me I should take S skills. It's G or P please.
Finally, #4. I'm considering Sure Hands, because every team needs a sure hands blodger. But I don't think I'll need it for these 2 games. Then there is shadowing, to be able to pin any one player I'll be facing in those games. Amazons and Dwarfs don't outrun MA8. Finally there is strip ball. He has good mobility and range, so he just might get to use it.

...thoughts?

Cheers
Martin

#1: Kick. You're plaing slow teams, seems the best to me.
#4: Tackle. I find you can never have enough, though Sure Hands is an OK choice. Don't think much of Shadowing. If passing is important to you, what about Nerves of Steel?
#7: Strong Arm seems a good choice.

Having just started a Brettonian team you've just sent me into a minor depression about how terrible a skill selection they have.

the skill access of those Brets-blitzers is very bad at high tv :(
=> kick is the best remaining option you give to them :(

I think, with 2 rr, a leader could be good.

Thanks for the feedback Guys,

@Sainthropee: I've got a leader, no worries.
@Moraiwe: Let your depression go - they're fine for a long while! I'll be working on a Playbook for them over the summer, but if you have any questions, then I'll be happy to give you my best advice.
@Babass: Kick is indeed one of the options I'm looking at. Basically, I'm considering to either try to use my supirior speed to my advantage, in which case I'll go with Kick on #1 and Shadowing (yes, shadowing) on #4. Alternatively, I could stock up on Fend, trying to utilize the positioning advantage.

....I think I'll go with Kick & Shadowing. Shadowing also helps a bit with positioning, since it can be used on opposing follow-ups to sometimes cancel assists.

Cheers

Another Fend would be better as shadowing, indeed.

I think my only question would be: Why did you design something so terrible?! Kidding... mostly.

actually, in tourney (or very low tv league) they are quite good :) (with 1 blitzer only, 4 yeomen, and lots of linemen)
but, indeed, their design is not that good for (long) leagues :(

@Moraiwe: Depends what you mean by terrible.
Nut if you mean "terrible skills access", then I'd say: To make you think.

Buuuut, Cyanide has officially confirmed that they're considering adding A-access to the Blitzers.
IMO, if a fix is to be made, then this is the most interesting one.
So - your thinking days might soon be over :orc:

Heh, glad to hear it - and I didn't mean any disrespect :)
I too look forward to having less tortured more straightforward fun with them. Even if I will miss the (failed?) experiment of GP-access.
Enjoy :D
