Resolving Downtime - Redrafting

Have anyone played more than one or two seasons with the Redraft rules?
Our league started second season.
I was thinking of how coaches do now when you dont just stuck up players with skills and redraft them if the get more expensive.
Do you already try out new plans? Keep only the best?
Depending on the games played a league can have more or less cash to redraft.
I'm thinking of just keeping my best dark elf players after season 2.
