Chet,
Given how well you did at Resurrection with Amazons (and the fact that I just received my Amazon figs, he he), I was wondering how long it would be before you put together a "how to" book on Amazons. I would love to hear your thoughts on setup, strategy, and team development. Thanks.

I'll work on it. Andy McLean also played Amazons at Resurrection; he also did very well.

Give me...oh, about a week? It shouldn't be very long. I'm busy with a few other BB-related projects at the moment, plus all that annoying "real life" and "work" stuff :wink:

Any progress on this Chet? I would also be interested in seing what you have to say about the Amazons. I am playing them in my local league at the moment, and they have gone 3-1 and are currently top of the league. Despite a pounding in my first game (7 casualties) they have proved to be quite resiliant, and able to switch their style of play to suit the opponent.

Not at the moment, sorry. I'm finishing up a couple articles for the re-release of Blood Bowl Magazine.

As for Amazons...well, my luck with them has gone completely south lately. They lost a pounding to some crazed Skaven in the RABBL, beat a Chaos Dwarf team in the MBBL, and are currently going to OT in their second MBBL game after I pulled off this snazzy little sequence:

* 2-die Block with a Blitzer: Double skulls
* Re-roll: Double skulls
* Broken AV
* SI'd
* AV-1
* Failed the Apothecary roll

Hmm. So it's 8-on-8 and I'm kicking to the High Elves in OT, but this could be my second loss in three games with them after starting 28-1 :)

Yeah, I figured (after the fact) that I was about 33,000 to 1 to lose the Blitzer for the game on the block. This assumes that I wouldn't have used the Apothecary on a badly hurt result. Crippling her permanently or losing her? About 37,000 to 1.

Now I went to the casino on Friday night after this unfortunate event and played Let It Ride. On my next-to-last hand, I had the following three cards:

QD, 10D, 9D

The dealer flips up the 4th card, used in common by all the players. Wouldn't you know, it's the 8 of Diamonds!

At this point I look down at the table, realize that the payout is 200 to 1 on my pair of $15 bets, and hesitate before pulling one of them back.

Did I draw the inside straight flush? NO! In fact, I didn't even win on the hand despite 3-in-8 odds of doing so on the remaining cards. And that's as good as it's going to get at a casino, believe me!

P.S. I still won approximately $45 American for the night. We were in Canada. Three times I was down to my final bet...and I won!

I never trust casinos anyhow, the way i see it the odds are almost always stacked against you.... certainly in the long run.
But it is amazing how luck can seem to run in circles, loads of good luck together but loads of bad luck to follow. Trick is to know when the transition is taking place! :wink:
