Dwarves

Post by NightDragon »

Any of you Dwarven boys ever developed a thrower, given him Hail Mary and one of your other players Diving Catch? If so how successful have you been? DD.

:?: They havent got the diving catch yet, but the runner has Hail Mary.
My friend is running the theory that if he can get enough dwarves into the area where the balls going then somebody has to get it
Its kind of a fun alternative to the running game :D
We play later,so I'll let ya know

Not a fan of the hail mary, but I do have a runner with pass and accurate though.

Sadly (Cheers Lucy!) my Norse catcher ally was murdered....

My normal AG runner (the other is AG5 :) ) has Pass.
I'm considering Accurate, Block and Pass Block as his next skills.

Hail Mary pass is waaaaaaaaaaaay down the list.

I got a friend who has a runner named Ombi. Ombi is 7459(?, he has a magic helmet) only extra skill he has acquired is dodge.

No Dodge as yet.
He's only had two advances and both were +1 Ag.
He scares the hell out of most opponents (especially elves for some reason), and has produced some fantastic plays...the best being:
Stand up, dodge into one tackle zone, dodge into one tackle zone, dodge into one tackle zone, pick up the ball, GFI dodge into the open, GFI, and then complete a long pass to a wide open Blitzer on teh other side of the field. That led to a TD.

His next advance will be Block, or Dodge on doubles. Hopefully my MA6 Blitzer will get his act together in the new season and get up to his second advance so I can give him Guard and use him as the Runners Bodyguard, as well as a gap filler on defence.

BeerBellies

BeerBellies with an Ag 5! My Orcs or Gators would make a point of bursting them. I trust he has plenty of Guard protection? Laters DD.

He would have if my longbeards hadn't developed a knack for throwing doubles on their advancements. 3 of my LBs have an extra skill, one of which has two. One LB has Mighty Blow, and has rolled a double for the second (I'm STILL undecided....but Sure Feet is looking like a possibility), and the other two got Stand Firm. Guard is very much next on the shopping list.

Umm...give him Dauntless or Frenzy. You can never have enough Slayers, you know.

Frenzy? too unpredictable...gets you into trouble too often and a Longbeard CANNOT afford to be dragged away from where you need him by the extra block and follow up.

Dauntless on the other hand is a good thought....

(wonders why the hell he didn't think of it now...probably just too atatched to the idea of an agility skill.)

Dauntless, definately...

Once you get a good number of Guard-ers on the team, it'll turn any regular joe into an Ogre-killer. Plus it's great for those Orc teams and their Black Orcs. You can't really bludgeon those freaks, so you have to "finesse" 'em. haha Sprinkle in a touch of Piling On and you'll even the odds in no time. hehe

I've found myself that instead of diversifying, take the same skill for just about everyone for the first 2 upgrades (not counting Runners and Slayers). Then spread the different skills around. I sport 8 Guarding Longbeards and half the fun is watching your opponent try to do all the math.

Well Thadrin, dodge would be a good choice, hard to knock blodge guys down. But i would only do that in the current rules if the guy dint have another advance, with ag 2 it will be a long time b4 he gets a chance for another. I can say from experience that block, dodge, standfirm, and guard is an opponents worst nitemare.

Dodge has crossed my mind, but I really want to match something up with the Mighty Blow he already has. My Stand Firm guys will probably get Guard or Dodge next (depending on if I roll doubles again or not), to make them immovable objects on the line.

My LBs who currently lack skills will be my wide guards where they'll team up with my blitzers to form tough to break units (my Blitzers have Guard as the next skill on their shopping lists).

I envision this other guy as the wild card MLB type. Of course, I could just be dull and give him SF and dump him on the line too, but that would be boring. Thats where the idea for sure feet came from - the extra certainty in making those GFI moves to get around the pitch....

I was decided on Dauntless until I came back to this thread. Dammit.
Its a nice conundurum to have and all but its a toughie.
