Yep, they could of... but didn't. So i will judge them on what they are attempting to do. Is also incidentally why i would buy BB - I have no interest in realtime games. I like a game with planning and thought. Saying that I loved Shogun total war all those moons ago because it had RTS elements that didn't need fiendish mouse clicking! (And a decade later when I discovered how to heal and merge units it all became so much easier...)

The issue around balance and stuff...

Really I would pay more if they had the capability to edit players, teams and inducements in my leagues. If I could make a hobgoblin team, make starplayers to go with it, add rostered bribes to goblins. All that sort of stuff, I would be happy as larry, even if they have messed up a few skills.

But they are deciding what innovations I would like. Nope...

Absolutely.

As do I. If you've not yet tried Frozen Cortex I do recommend it.

I have actually bought it a while back - but it is sitting on my steam account waiting to get fired up... Really if I get an hour free I tend to fire up bloodbowl still!

It shouldn't be forced by someone messing around with the rules.
I totally agree that it should be their decision, it's just that in my experience it rarely is. Communities for games are generally built off of someone else's IP, and they can do what they like. I used to run a 40k community online, we started in 99 and ended in 06, we went to many games days running tables, we went to loads of tournaments and even ran 2 of our own in WW, we went to the first Badab campaign and invented our own Space Marine chapter each taking a different company (the only 40k models I still own). Then new rules came out, we lost interest, and the community split and died. I've played for top online pro clubs on Fifa only to see the player base come and go and teams die and reform as new versions come out that people love or hate due to the changes in mechanics (we lost many when the new ps and xbox came out and some switched platform). I've played in BF and Arma communities that again have split over whether people have bought DLCs or gone to the new version. New things will always come that are outside of our control.

Yeah that's a really good point, I agree with that.

harvestmouse wrote:A BB Ultimate Team would be interesting. Star Players already have Star Player Cards so they could use them. The only problem with this idea is that there are no way near enough Star Players. Ok, they could make a up a lot of standard players or players with a skill or 2. However to make it viable and for teams not to be mass duplication, they'd need far far more stars. I think it'd be hard to keep the correct feel, and would probably dilute the whole experience.
With 24 different races I think getting enough players would be a pain. I think the only reason having so many players in FifaUT is that you know them from RL so it's much easier to track who is who. Without something similar for BB I agree it could feel really dilute. That said it's tempting to start trawling some FUMBBL teams to steal from!

I think, for me, where I would go for a real time type game is if it were an action sports game. You could take all the IP and background from BB and make a totally new sports game from it. Dice rolls would be replaced with button presses. For example making a dodge would be pressing the dodge button within an allotted space of time; players with lower AG or harder dodges would see that window reduce in size. You could have combat mechanics, throwing mechanics, all of it. If you allowed online 11v11 like Fifa does that could be really fun.
