Hi GJK,
I'd have no problem with you using your vassal module against eachother.
The problem is that the rest of the coaches in the League use our quite old and not too pretty Delphi pbem Tool, and are probably not inclined to learn a new program.

If you PM me your email (connected to a Google account) I can give you access to Tool on my Google drive. You'd have plenty of time to mess around with it, as our new season unfortunately does not start until march 1st. (That said, it is OK to start up a team and play some friendlies, developing your team for the coming season).

Cheers
Martin

Just started messing around with this again and set up a match to see what was involved. Is there a way to turn off movement tracking during set-up or do I have to move all my pieces and and then individually mark them as unmoved?

Fancy a game?

I'd love a game! I'm getting my butt kicked in my first ever game of Streetbowl but I'm having fun with it. I'll shoot you a PM here so that we can get in contact and get a play by dropbox game going or we can arrange to meet and play online.

As for the movement trails - yup, there's a couple of options. You can group select all of your pieces before you shift them around and then CTRL+T to turn off/hide the trails if they're getting annoying. After you've positioned for the kickoff, then hit the "Turnover" button and it will clear all of the trails (even you still have them hidden). The other is just to hit Turnover when done with you setup to clear them all at once - you don't have to clear them all each individually.

FYI for others - I'm looking to create the pitches for dungeonbowl and BB7's to add as well so there will be even more play options in future releases!

I've composed an IM but for some reason it stays in my 'outbox' and doesn't send (or so it seems). If you're not getting that IM's, tag me here and I'll get my email address and other contact info to you another way.

PM came through fine. Fancy a straight TV1000, CRP game against Chaos? How do you normally do the pre-match stuff? Would be easy enough to do using something like SecureDice.

That's perfect and yes, there's an online coin flipper that emails the results as well so same concept- this one looks fancier though so let's go with it. TV1000 is perfect. I've received your email so I'll reply to you there so that we can get started!

Hiii and great for your job.
I need to ask some questions:
1. Is it possible to change background pitch image? If yes how i can do?
2. Is it possible to add some geometrical symbol for players (not an image but a rectangle or other regular shapes)?
3. Is it possible to divide map window by toolbar to have in a separate window the pitch?

Thank you very much for your work and see ya

Hi! Great questions and thanks!

Currently there are different images of the pitch for the various weather conditions (snow, very sunny, etc) that are accessed via the "Weather" icon near the bottom of the pitch window. There's also the Streetbowl pitch if that mode of play is selected when you start a game.

You can add your own custom pitch but it would be a matter of physically replacing the graphic that I've created with one of your own. It's not terribly difficult at all (the vassal module is just a .zip archive) and I'd be more than happy to help you with that if you'd like to PM me so that I can contact you about it.
Crematoria wrote: 2. Is it possible to add some geometrical symbol for players (not an image but a rectangle or other regular shapes)?
Interesting! Sort of like the "X" and "O" of American football plays or the like? You certainly could - it would also be a matter of replacing the images with the ones that I have for the players but yeah, you could create your own shapes/designs (graphically) and just replace the images in the module. It would not affect your ability to play with others that don't have your mod either (they'd see it as it is and you'd see yours unless you shared your version with them).
Crematoria wrote: 3. Is it possible to divide map window by toolbar to have in a separate window the pitch?
Yes, absolutely! If you have dual-monitors, this works great as you can have just the pitch on one (and super-size it!) and the control bar on the other.

When you launch the module, start a game (doesn't matter - it's just to get into a game) and go to "FILE>Preferences" and under the "General" tab, there is a check box that reads "Use Combined Application Window (Requires restart)". Uncheck that box and close that game. The next time that you launch the module, the control bar will be undocked from the pitch and you can drag it to where ever you like.

Awesome - thank you! By the way, we have a newly launched Discord channel for chat about the module and for setting up matches (and looking to get another league going soon as well). Join us here: https://discord.gg/49CXWyZ

But I'm lazy, very very lazy :D Any chance there is a youtube vid of you playing a match somewhere? I'd like to watch one, or part of one, before choosing to spend my time learning BB on another platform.
There is no YouTube vid when playing. But there is this one https://youtu.be/B2y2Bs8DpD4 that shows how to get it up and running. There will be a part 2 that will show how stuff works when you have fired it all up. And lastly there will be a part 3 showing how a game work and how to play through dropbox, mail or other cloud service.

It's a great way of playing blood bowl especially for ppl that don't have much time and/or can't spend 1-2h sitting at a computer in one go playing BB like you are forced to do if you play through fumbbl or the PC games BBCE or BB2.

Two, quite important thing I feel the friendly GJK have forgotten to tell everyone. One of the greatest pull (for me at least) for playing VABBL instead of fumbbl for example, except for the fact that it is a great way of playing on the go. Is that it is as of right now. THE ONLY WAY to play BB alternatives.

I use it to play StreerBowl myself and it is awesome. You can play it online or through dropbox for example. It's perfect. GJK have also told me that he is working on a BB7s pitch as well and I guess more will come if the interest gets bigger. I would love VABBL to grow and I'm working on a streetbowl league that will be played through VABBL. I hope more ppl find VABBL and thus joining the SB league and or BB leagues in the future.

It's of course also great for trying out teams and compositions and to try out custom rules or if you have your own BB alternatives you wanna play test with ppl.

And finally. For those that are interested in playing, asking direct questions to GJK or myself or just wanna hang out. Join the VABBL Discord channel right here: https://discord.gg/mSvgSHq

Thanks for the video(s) Zapp and the kind words!

I'm working on BB7's now and am looking at options for creating a Dungeonbowl module.

And I may make a video as well that will go through the logfiles of a previously played match (with voice commentary) to outline how a play by email/dropbox match works with VABBL. By the way, it's not only play by email/dropbox, you can connect and play live online as well.
