Here's the rule for handling Apothecaries.

If the coach that inflicts the casualty is going to have players march over the square (during the remainder of the current turn) that the opponent would have been prone in if the apothecary was used, then you need to send the file to your opponent before finishing your turn.

If your opponent used his apothecary you plan on fouling the player during the remainder of your turn, then you need to send the file to your opponent before finishing your turn.

Otherwise, you just finish your turn ... if the ball lands in that square for any reason, then you'll need to send the file to your opponent before finishing your turn ... but this is very, very rare.

Basically if a prone player on the pitch in that square effects the remainder of your turn, you need to send the file to your opponent before proceeding ... otherwise you just finish your turn.

98% of the time, you'll be able to finish your turn ... at the end of your turn it is considered polite to mention to your opponent any casualties inflicted for possible apothecary use. When your opponent receives the file, if he wishes to use the apothecary he would roll the D6, success allows him to return the player to the pitch prone in the square that they would have been in.
