GFI and blitz

Post by Onion »

On p20 of the LRB it says:
'A player that is taking a Blitz action may ‘go for it’ in order
to make a block.'
Does this mean that the blitz counts as a block, or does it mean that I can do a blitz and then an additional block?

Only one block in your blitz action. Since that block is a movement step, you may GFI for it.

No. A blitz is a move-block combination. You move then block. It's the only time you can do both at the same time. As a blitz is a move, you can GFI to get to your opponent that you were blitzing.

For example:

You're lineman has a move of 6. You want him to block your opponent's lineman, but he's 7 squares away. So, you declaire a blitz, move your guy 7 squares, make a GFI roll, and if that works, you make the block roll. All part of the blitz.

Make sense?

Just so that I am not confused - if you have MV6 and your opponent is 7 squares away do you not declare blitz, move the 7 squares, make a GFI for the extra movement - then make another GFI for the block itself??
If you block an opponent mid way through your move the tool takes an action from you so is it not the same at the ends of the turn?

If not then I have been making (and failing) extra GFI's for years.

the block in a blitz does use an extra point of movement so in the case that you put, yes you would need to do 2 GFI rolls to make the blitz.

The square of movement it costs to block as part of a blitz action could be thought of as the square you move into if you pushback the opposing player.
